Likes
- I do like the infrastructure of the college. The campus is very large and beautiful as well (better then most of the state colleges).
- I like the faculty members a lot. They are of high work ethic and they always teach quality stuffs.
Dislikes
- I don't like the mess of the hostel, the mess food is very bad . Also there are frequent load shedding in the campus.
- I don't like the reservation criteria of the college like most of the seats are reserved for the Bodo people.
Remarks :
I choose this college because it was the closest college from my hometown. There are various good aspects about the college. First of all the faculties are very good and highly qualified. There are various sports complex as well as music complex in the college. However there are also some negative aspects like the major one is that there is lack of high placement in this college since the college is newly established. There is a major issue of reservation like almost 30-35% are reserved for the tribals and Bodo people. There was an entrance exam for admission in this college named central institute of technology Kokrajhar entrance examination (CITKEE). You have to qualify for the exam and then there will be counselling round(offline). Then you have to select your course depending on the rank that you obtained in the entrance exam. So I had obtained high rank in the test so it was easy for me to get any of the branches, since I wanted to pursue Instrumentation engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because I had interests on various aspects of Instrumentation engineering like VLSI, automation , control systems, analog and digital electronics, microprocessors, etc. The faculties are highly qualified. Most of them are former professors from top IIT's and NIT's. They also have PhD and masters. Their teaching style is very good. Most of the faculties are very friendly except few. They also try to help the students when they are in need. There are two main exams in each semester named as mid semester which is held in the middle of the semester and another one is end semester. The difficulty of the exams are moderate according to me.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships can be applied after the end of 6th semester. The students during their internship program are sent to various PSUs like IOCL, NTPC, ONGC etc. Students can also opt for private internships which can pay them as well. I have not opted for internships yet since it is my 5th semester right now, however I am planning to do internship in my 6th semester.
Placement Experience :
The placement of the college is not very good. There are very less amount of placement opportunities in the college. From 7th semester onwards, students can apply for placements and its related exams. There are various number of companies that visit every year such as Siemens Energy, Amazon , Wipro, TCS and many other companies. About 50 % of students are placed every year. The highest package was of 12 LPA in the year 2021 and the average package is around 5 LPA. I planned of doing masters from some IIT's or NIT's.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The year wise fee that I am paying is 43000. However I have to pay an extra fee of 24200 since I am a hosteller (hostel fee for each semester=5500 and the mess fee for each semester= 6600).The tuition fee is 12000, the caution fee is 4000, the hostel caution fee is 2000, the registration fee is 1000, the admission fee is 1000, the development fee is 500 and the lab fee is 2500. Other important fee include examination fee which is 1500 and the facility fee which is 3000. These are the fee for the OBC category since I am an OBC. General category also follows the same fee structure. However the SC, ST's and the PWD's have to pay less compared to us. Their complete fee for the entire year is 30000 (15000 each semester). There are scholarships plan such as Ishanodoi scheme and the NSP one (national scholarship portal). Both of them provide decent amount of money around 50000 but only few students are able to claim them.
Campus Life :
Life at the campus is good like you wont ever feel bored in this college. There are two major fests in the college. One is the technical fest known as Techracy held in the month of October or November and the other one is the is cultural fest which is known as the Esctacy held in the month of March or April. Our college has the largest library of the entire north east region known as Central library. It has a huge varieties of books and magazines. There are no shortage of books in this library. Classrooms are big and very good. There are various sports in the college such as cricket, football, basketball, tennis , volleyball, badminton etc. and each of the sports have their separate grounds. There is also a music complex where all types of musical instruments are present. There are various clubs in the campus run by students such as coding club, automation club, cyber security club, astronomy club, automation club and robotics club. There are various social media handles as well.
Hostel Facilities :
Yes I have opted for a hostel and I am a hosteller. The hostel fee is 5500 per semester and the mess fee is 6600. I would say the mess fee is average and maybe below average. They provide you the same meal everyday which consists of dal, rice, papad, salad, some vegetables etc. There is no chicken, meat ,paneer and fish available. If you want to eat those you have to buy them separately. The registration process is simple. You just have to the HMC(Hostel Management Committee) and they will provide you with the form. You just fill up the form and within a few days you will be allotted in the hostel. There is also a local PG nearby if you don't want to stay in the hostel.

Dream Campus, Not-So-Dream Jobs

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My plans after my degree is to get a job in electronic domain while also focusing on my photography and editing Passion Check my work on insta sodaa.edits
My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

Placement Experience :
The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

You must get more than 7 CGPA to sit in the placement. TCS, L&T, Jacobs etc and the highest package is around 21 LPA around 15% are placed every year.Iwill be doing PHd in IIT after getting my degree.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
