Assam University Admission Dates 2027

Assam University uses the CUET admission cycle for most UG and PG courses, as followed by central universities under UGC. The 2026-27 admission session is over, so students applying now should track the 2027-28 cycle.

Assam University Courses and Fees

Assam University has more than 200 programmes under 13 schools. These include UG, PG, diploma, and Ph.D. courses. The fee details below are based on official 2025-26 data.

Two courses closely linked with Northeast India are the Aquacultural Engineering M.Tech and Tea Management PG Diploma. The Performing Arts school also offers BPA and MPA options in areas such as Manipuri Dance, Theatre Arts, and classical music traditions.

Assam University Admission Process

Assam University admits students through the CUET system used for central universities. UG admissions are handled through CUET UG, while PG admissions use CUET PG. For some courses, CUET scores are combined with marks from the qualifying exam while preparing merit lists.

B.Tech Admission

For B.Tech in CSE, ECE, and Agricultural Engineering, students need 10+2 with PCM and at least 45% aggregate marks. Selection is based on CUET UG or JEE Main, followed by university counselling and document verification. Diploma holders with at least 60% aggregate can apply for 3-year lateral entry B.Tech, which has fees of INR 2.04 Lakhs.

B.Pharm Admission

B.Pharm applicants must have studied PCB or PCM in 10+2 and secured at least 45% aggregate marks. Admission is done through CUET UG or direct merit. The department ranked 76 among pharmacy institutions in NIRF 2025 because of its research and academic work.

Law, MBA, and Postgraduate Admissions

BA LLB (Hons) needs 10+2 with 45% aggregate marks. Students can enter through CUET UG or CLAT score. The course is a 5-year integrated law programme recognised by BCI.

For MBA, students need graduation with 50% aggregate marks and a valid CUET PG or CAT score. The university offers MBA specialisations in Finance, Marketing, HR, IT, Operations Management, and Tourism and Hospitality Management. M.Tech admission requires B.Tech or BE with 55% and a valid GATE score.

MA, M.Sc, and Ph.D. Admissions

MA and M.Sc admissions are offered in more than 30 subjects through CUET PG. Merit lists are made separately for each subject. Students must have a graduation degree in the relevant subject with at least 45% aggregate marks. Ph.D. admission is based on UGC NET or the Assam University Entrance Test, which is conducted periodically during the year.

Assam University Placements and Career Outcomes

Assam University has a Career Counselling and Placement Cell for recruitment support and industry interaction, mainly for B.Tech, MBA, and B.Pharm students. Because the university is in Silchar in Barak Valley and has a research-focused central university profile, many students move towards government services, higher studies, research, and regional industry jobs instead of only large national campus placements.

CSE and ECE B.Tech students find IT services and software roles in Guwahati, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and other metro cities. Assam University Campus and Infrastructure

Assam University's main campus at Dargakona spreads across 600 acres and is 20 km from Silchar city on the Guwahati road.
