Bodoland University follows different admission schedules for undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and doctoral courses. The upcoming event is listed below.

Each group of programmes uses a separate selection method. The accepted admission routes are given below.

Bodoland University Courses and Fees

More than 40 programmes are available at undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, Certificate and Diploma levels. Most two-year postgraduate courses have total fees between INR 33,000 and INR 81,000.

Certificate and Diploma courses such as Communicative English, Rural Entrepreneurship and Peace Studies cost between INR 1,500 and INR 5,000. These courses are available to students and working professionals from across the BTR region.

Bodoland University Admission Process

Selection at Bodoland University depends on the course. Undergraduate applicants use CUET and Class 12 results, most postgraduate applicants take the university entrance test, and doctoral applicants complete an examination and interview process.

UG Admission for BA, B.Sc, BBA and BCA

For undergraduate courses in the university’s constituent departments, the merit score gives equal weight to CUET and Class 12 performance. Applicants must have passed Class 10+2 from a recognised board in the relevant stream. The combined undergraduate intake across departments is 1,200 seats.

1. Register for CUET through the NTA portal at exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG.
2. Select Bodoland University while completing the CUET form so that the application can be considered for its merit lists.
3. Check the department-wise merit list and complete document verification and fee payment to confirm admission.

PG Admission for MA, M.Sc, M.Com and MCA

The university conducts the BU PG Entrance Examination each year for these programmes. Applicants need a relevant undergraduate degree with at least 45% marks. The minimum is 40% for SC and ST applicants. The objective-type test assesses subject knowledge and general aptitude. Across 13 departments, the total postgraduate intake is 600 seats.

MBA Admission

MBA applicants need at least 60% marks in a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Selection requires either 60+ percentile in CAT or MAT or at least 67 marks in the entrance examination conducted by Bodoland University. The programme has 60 seats and offers Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Operations Management and Dual Specialisation.

Ph.D. Admission

The annual doctoral admission process runs from December to April. Applicants first take an online entrance examination and then attend an interview with the relevant department. Those who have qualified UGC-NET/JRF, CSIR-NET or GATE do not have to take the written examination. The next admission cycle opens in December 2026.

Bodoland University Placements and Career Outcomes

Bodoland University mainly focuses on teaching and research, so organised campus recruitment is more limited than at professional colleges. Graduates of MBA, MCA, M.Sc and MA programmes move into government service, education, research and private industry.

Many postgraduate students prepare for the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) and UPSC examinations. Regional banking and insurance companies have visited for MBA recruitment. MCA and M.Sc ML and AI students are also gaining links to technology jobs in Guwahati and metropolitan cities.

Bodoland University Campus and Infrastructure

Bodoland University occupies 125 acres at Rangalikhata in Kokrajhar, within the Bodoland Territorial Region. Its 17 postgraduate departments share the campus with administrative buildings, research facilities and a central library.

Campus facilities include:

• A central library with an expanding collection of digital resources
• Research laboratories for Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science, supported by grants from central agencies
• Separate hostels for male and female students, charging up to INR 10,150 per year
• A Technology Incubation Centre that supports student entrepreneurship
• A Centre for Bamboo Studies linked to the region’s identity
• A sports ground, auditorium and student activity centre

Kokrajhar lies on the railway corridor between New Bongaigaon and New Cooch Behar and has Assam Road Transport Corporation services. As the administrative headquarters of the BTR, the town places students close to government offices that can support research and internship opportunities.

Bodoland University Scholarships

Students may receive support through UGC fellowships, Assam government scholarships and central schemes for learners from northeast India and tribal communities.

Many students belong to Scheduled Tribe communities, including the Bodo community, and may qualify for government tribal scholarships. Eligible scholars also receive free hostel accommodation during periods covered by their scholarships.

Bodoland University vs Dibrugarh University vs Assam University

For postgraduate study in Assam and the wider northeast, students may compare Bodoland University with Dibrugarh University in Dibrugarh and Assam University in Silchar. Bodoland and Dibrugarh are state universities, while Assam University is a central university. Each offers courses across several academic fields.

Bodoland University combines lower fees with a specialised focus on Bodo language studies. Dibrugarh University has a larger research base, a NAAC A Grade and specialist Petroleum Engineering programmes. Assam University, Silchar receives central funding and has more departments, broader research output and a higher NAAC grade. Students considering Assam University must also account for relocation to Silchar.
