Likes
- Faculty. All have very excellent research profiles. You would love to learn from them. They are people with great acumen with a passion for their work. Keep good relations with them as you may need Letters of recommendation after you graduate.
- The infrastructure is quite good. The campus is huge and surrounded with greenery. You have lots of activities by your side after classes in the evening. You will feel really good about the college with the right people by your side.
Dislikes
- Location is a very bad aspect of this college. Outside the campus is a village with limited transport facilities. Theres bus services from the college during class hours. People without personal vehicles might feel alienated.
- Placements are awful. They don't do justice to it's tag since its a central institute. Although there's tremendous room for improvements, I feel things are improving with time since many initiatives are being taken by faculty and placement cell.

You register for the counseling process with your documents handy and apply to different branches. No GD/PI is required. JEE Main and CITKEE are used for admission.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The Course Curriculum of our department is hectic. You will get time to pursue extracurricular activities but the subject matter that you will deal with will be really hard. The course structure is difficult yet slow paced with covering the necessary basics needed to become a good engineer. Almost all the faculties except 2-3 have their PhDs. They are very much involved in research work. They explain concepts clearly and will never turn their back on any student if they need some help. Our professors' teaching methods can be improved with graded projects and teaching with projectors. We still use the traditional blackboards but wouldn't hurt to learn from digital classrooms. All exams are held according to the schedule mentioned in the academic calendar and exams are held very strictly with no scope for academic dishonesty.
Internships Opportunities :
After you finish your 6th semester, you are eligible for internships at various companies. Some people opt for private firms as they provide you with a stipend but the vast majority will go for PSUs like IOCL, ONGC and NTPC. You can also opt for internships before your 6th semester.
Placement Experience :
Placements start at the beginning of the 7th semester. Since on-campus placements are limited, many people opt for off-campus placements, prepare for entrance exams, or go abroad. Siemens Energy, Amazon, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, HCL and Flipkart are some of the employers that have recruited students in the past.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
You will be paying a total of 30500 RS at the time of admission if you are a day scholar. This includes first semester tuition as well. After that every semester your tuition will be 21500 RS if you do not opt for hostel. This is for Gen/OBC. For SC/ST/PWD, the total amount payable at the time of admission is 18500 RS and after that 9500 RS every semester for tuition. If you opt for a hostel, you will have to pay 38500 RS for GEN/OBC and 26500 RS for SC/ST/PWD at the time of admission. After that, 27000 RS every semester including hostel and mess for GEN/OBC and 15000 RS for SC/ST/PWD. All types of scholarships that students usually avail admitted into a CFTI are available including 'Ishan Uday Scholarship' and 'Central Sector Scheme for students'.
Campus Life :
You won't have any difficulty in finding a group you fit in if you are an outgoing person. There are two fests conducted every year- Ecstasy(Cultural) and Techcracy (Technical). Ecstasy is held every year in the month of march/april and techcracy during September/October. One of the best things about the campus is its state-of-the-art library. Almost all the books that you will need for your academics should be available in the library. You also get access to journals and research papers of Masters and PhD students. For sports, you have football, cricket, badminton, basketball, volleyball and Lawn Tennis. There's also a recreation center where you can practice guitar, drums and other musical instrument
Hostel Facilities :
You have power back up in case of an emergency. All the hostels have lan access. You will get a bed, a wardrobe and a desk when you move in. Since the hostel and is very affordable, the food options are limited. However there's pay to eat foods available in the mess while its time to eat.

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.
