There is good access of bus and other transport means for easier access. Well after passing the 10+2 exams from any board one can apply for addmission here under the general portal of the government of Assam called Samarth portal. Here one can choose to apply for this college. After applying merit lists are prepared. Accordingly on the basis of merit and availability of seats in the desired courses admission can be availed. I opted for Bachelors in Geography in this college as I was interested in that subject and the institute offered good facilities and guidance in this course. The Departments in the college are well organised and have number of class rooms with good seating capacity. The classrooms had good arrangements , but there was some repairs needed to be done for the appliances. The faculties are helpful and knowledgeable about the concerns of the students and the courses and try to give proper consultation to the students and resolve their doubts. The exams are held as per the guidelines of the university.
The college provides internships with some select partners though guaranteed placements are not sure. College has career counseling and guidance cell which partners up with various organisations and host a number of events to help students gain insights in various fields which would help them. Recently, during 2024 mid an intership program was organised by the college having tie ups with renowned institutes . Overall placements are few through the college but internship programmes are offered along with career counseling time and again.
Since I enrolled in 2020 we got exemption from 1st semester admission fees , but its now roughly around Rs.7000-8000 per odd semester, for even semester its around Rs.2000 . The admission fees are different for both B.sc and B.A students . And since the exams are held under the Gauhati University, for which there is different exam and centre fees. If the selected course contains practical papers then the amount increases a little for every practical paper. Annually it costs around Rs. 12000+ . And now after the NEP implementation the course fees have risen somewhat considering that it would be around Rs.14000 annually. The institution also offers fees exemption for students holding valid income certificates issued by the circle office. Students wanting to avail free admission have to pay a minimal amount while taking admission. The college also offers scholarship programs as per the government schemes and programmes valid across all government colleges.
The campus is beautiful than most institutes in the city. The campus has two ponds which are conserved as bio diversity hotspots having a diverse variety of flora and aquatic life . The campus has many blocks , each block housing a number of departments . The college also has a playground and a basketball court. The college has NCC and nss blocks as well . The college has a designated library building having its own conference hall and study centre. The college organises freshmen social around mid September, every year and also organises annual college week during March . A number of events and social meet ups are also organised by the different organisations of the college every month. The college also organises different cultural fests accordingly. Here one can expect to experience a dynamic college life throughout his course duration.
Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .
While the college does not guarantee 100% corporate placement, it facilitates campus interviews and internships. Companies like Amazon, Flipkart, and Tata have rec recruited or offered internships to a percentage of students.
There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My plans after my degree is to get a job in electronic domain while also focusing on my photography and editing Passion Check my work on insta sodaa.edits
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.
There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA
The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low. That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled. And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.
I forever had a dream of starting a business by myself as I come from a business background I also wanted to help my father in his work , I wanted to grow my father's business by just putting technical efforts so this is the reason I chooses commerce Teachers are of very friendly nature and helpful If you attend regular college you won't face any difficulties in exams
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.
You must get more than 7 CGPA to sit in the placement. TCS, L&T, Jacobs etc and the highest package is around 21 LPA around 15% are placed every year.Iwill be doing PHd in IIT after getting my degree.
I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
