Insight to Lifesciences course in Dibrugarh University

- Infrastructure is good, surrounding and environment is lush green, sports facilities are top notched, campus life is very enjoyable.
- Course curriculum is good, faculties are well experienced, classmate were helpful, no ragging or racial, casteist slurs were used. A very healthy and positive environment.
Dislikes
- College laboratories are not well equipped with modern technologies. Lab technicians are not well trained.
- Direct campus placement is not present. Limited job opportunities after the course.
Remarks :
University campus is very likeable and surrounding area serene. The faculties are well experienced and helpful. Classrooms are nice and equipped with ICT facilities. Laboratory needs improvement. Admission to course is based on DUPGET and CUET-PG. DUPGET is held annually by Dibrugarh University for admission into masters program. DUPGET is comparatively easier to crack with graduate level knowledge of the concern subject. Seat allocation is completely based on merit of the entrances.
Course Curriculum Overview :
This course provides you opportunity to pursue a master's degree in the field of Lifesciences at very negligible fee. All the faculties are experienced in their relevant subject and have doctoral and post doctoral degrees with very good research profile. Specialization available includes Fish Biology, Biochemistry, Entomology, Genetics, Taxonomy, Microbiology and Ecology. Exams are conducted semester wise with 60% weightage on end term and 40% weightage on mid term exams. The difficulty level of this course is moderate for a Lifesciences graduate in the fields of botany and zoology.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship is not mandatory for the course, but my friends have availed internship in different research institute like CSIR NEIST, Jorhat and IASST, Guwahati for research training. I also availed a full time job after my course, through the help of a faculty. Overall the situation is good for opportunities even no campus placement drives are happening.
Placement Experience :
Placement and job opportunities are limited. Small placement drives happens at campus. Largely, no campus drives happens for Lifesciences students. But faculties help with getting off-campus placement in research institutes and other colleges.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Admission fee for general category is Rs 8,800 per annum. You can get fee waiver if your family annual income is less than 2 lakhs annually. Other central and state government scholarship for monetary help is also available and in accordance with UGC and national scholarship portal.
Campus Life :
Campus life is very enjoyable. Many fest occurs at the University. Starting with Varsity Week in the month of March, Bihu celebrations in the month of April, Freshers Social Event in the month of August and many other fests varies annually. Extracurricular activities include sports and NSS. Many clubs and study circles are there for volunteering and competitive exam and interview preparation. Library is well equipped with modern technologies and wi-fi. Town is nearby for weekend visit. Sports facilities include cricket playground, football playground, volleyball court, badminton court, table tennis. Gym facilities are also available. Overall a very good experience.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel rooms are moderate and not large enough, but sufficient to accomodate single bed. Hostel food is not that good. Hostel environment is suitable for studies. Overall hostels are large and equipped with good infrastructure but food quality can be improved. Cleanliness is also good and surrounding area lush green.

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
