In symbiosis institute of design - the courses I feel are the best are fashion and graphic . Everything else is a little too expensive for the fees I think. The faculty is outstanding especially in graphic design but it is quite disappointing that digital tools aren’t provided by them considering the amount of fees we pay . The course structure is just right and it is not very hectic like other design colleges . The campus infrastructure isn’t that great as they don’t have much to offer but the auditorium and computer labs are good .
I chose graphic designing because I had the heard that the faculty was good and it is true . They provide good guidance and the faculty is very qualified in terms of my course . Teaching method is good for some and not that great for others . Jury happens every sem end in an organised way and the difficulty level is medium . Good preparation gives good results.
College does not provide with much internship options as we are asked to find them ourselves . They do guide us and help us choose what’s best for us but that’s about it in my knowledge. They also help providing us a list of companies that could potentially give us internship opportunities.
I’m still a 2nd year student so I am not very aware of the entirety of SID’s placements but graphic design has good placements . A cgpa of 7 and above is ideal for good placements . The average packages companies offer comes around 10-12 lpa . My plans after the degree is to hopefully get some work experience and if needed do masters in graphic design
The yearly fees is nearly 4.5 lakhs for all the courses in symbiosis institute of design. Everyone in our college pays the same fees . Not very aware of the details of tuition fees caution fees and such .
There are multiple clubs in our college like fashion club, photography club, music club, movie club etc and the social life is decent . I wish there were more activities provided which could help with improving our portfolio. FDM is SID’s fest which is usually conducted in February. The library provides a good collection of materials related to design. Classrooms are well maintained but not great . The campus is just okay as it is quite small . There are multiple Sid Instagram pages run by students which is quite active .
The hostel infrastructure is good and has a good environment but the food is not that great for the price being paid . The menu has limited non veg options and doesn’t seem very healthy. The hostel is not very affordable so students tend to move out into apartments by 2nd or 3rd year such as me . The rooms are okay enough. They provide hot water at all times and WiFi 24/7 .
I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.
The college does have a placement cell. It provides some in campus placements . Rarely 2% students get in campus placements. Rest have to find jobs pn their own. You wi have to do alot of interships and gain practical skills to be placed
Diffrent companies have different criteria, limited companies comes in campus such as bootcoding Pvt.Ltd , and some small companies arrived. Highest package giving by companies is 4 LPA lowest package is 3LPA and average package is 2.5LPA. about 20% of students got placed. Searching a job after my course computation.
The faculty members are supporting but inexperienced the experienced professionals have left the college long time ago. This is one of the old colleges in Pune. The semesters are generally proactive extracurricular activities are less and are given not much priority .
