I was interested in this design field and NIFT is one of the top design institutes in the world. For admission there is one written exam and one studio test. You get to give the studio test only if you pass the written exam.
The course and the curriculum is very different from other colleges, there are regular assignment submissions, continuous evalution for few subjects, and jury at the end of every semester. The curriculum is different from other colleges cause you get to solve mostly real life problems with your design thinking.
Placement and job opportunities are not that impressive as I’ve seen and heard from seniors. Big companies do come but the annual package is bad for Bachelor degree students, its good for Masters students.
It’s approximately 1.5-1.8 Lakhs per semester. So yearly its 3 Lakhs above for 2 semesters. And there are scholarship options for people with income lower than 5lakhs per annum. And the fees is same for General, ST, SC. Its just higher for NRI Students.
Life in campus is cool, people are chill and open minded, there are clubs like sports, photography etc. There are fests like spectrum and converge. It’s a nice experience. In converge you can get to compete with other Nift students from other campuses in a particular sport.
No i havent opted for mess or hostel facility. There is no hostel facility for boys, there are hostels only for girls. The mess is ok, food is not great but eatable and also cheaper than outside the campus.
There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students

All the faculties are extremely well qualified from top institutions of the world and they are all extremely approachable and nice. The term exams we had were split like CP1, CP2, and CP3 of 20+25+25 marks each. They were some easy ones, and some application based, which develops the engineering thinking mindset
