- The thing that I liked about this college is it’s fee structure which was quite affordable as compared to other engineering colleges.
- Also the Diversity of students and clutures was a major attraction.
Dislikes
- I dislike the academic pressure on students.
- Also the campus life wasn’t really fun for me.
Remarks :
Honestly I choose this college because it was the nearest to my location as well as , as compared to Chandigarh University and Chitkara University , they are the most affordable ones. The admission process is simple you can apply online or offline ( I prefer campus visiting) . The Placement and Training Department is okayish ( if you take initiative then they’ll help you out , otherwise its just regular) . Placement Season is kind of off as CU and CGC (landran) have their placement drives together where companies usually prefer students from CU.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The Course Curriculum is followed described by IKGPTU which hasn’t been updated since 2018 . Faculty is fine ( depends on your stream) . The teachers and lab assistants are cooperative of IT department ( can’t speak for other departments) . Teaching methods are a mix of obsolete and new ( most of the teachers still use board to explain). Many lack actual practical knowledge and industrial changes in the industry. Very less practical approach to subjects. (I’ve been a topper of my department, so usually teachers are cooperative with me) .
Internships Opportunities :
According to IKGPTU , the internship is compulsory for eighth semester as the last semester is evaluated based on the performance during your internship and no examinations are conducted in the last semester. I haven’t opted for any internship yet.
Placement Experience :
This year the placement season is cooked . The recruiters are very picky about the candidates and the number of mass recruitment is reduced to 20-30 candidates ( usually only 10-15 companies) . The average package this year till now is ?4.5 LPA to ?6 LPA and the Highest package this year till now is ?22 LPA . Few Companies that have visited the campus are Mu Sigma, KPMG , KPIT , Hike Education Pvt. Ltd. , Cognizant , Renault Nissan , JTG , QuiriousBit , Mindsprint etc. and usually company picks 5-6 candidates. The previous percentage of my department is approx 35% students are placed .
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Earlier when I enrolled in this college, the fee structure was 45,000 per semester that accounts to 90,000 per year (degree is of 4 years) . Now the dynamics have been changed , for the Engineering Degree they have been now 65,000 per semester which accounts to 1,30,000 per year now. This fee structure is implemented by this year only ( for Engineering branches) . When you enroll , they will be charging 11,000 for registration which will be included in your fees. Every Year there are 2 semester examinations whose fees costs upto 1000-1500 per semester. There are no lab fees , development fees or others. Important Tip: They are affiliated by IKGPTU which charges heavy over each supply or ATKT ( eg: for one re-examination or re-evaluation of examination they charge upto 2000 per paper). P.S. : I’ve changed my stream from ECE to IT after completion of my first year. ( yes this is an option if you score really well in your first year )
Campus Life :
Although Freshers is organised by the DSW( Department of Student Welfare) every year but the most exciting and awaited fest “PARIVARTAN” happens in the month of October/ November. It is the biggest event hosted by CGC which is of 2 Days. Every department has a minor library of its own along with a central library. Classrooms are equipped with desks , fans , boards , projectors , pordium , windows etc. (No AC) . Sports and Extracurricular activities also go along with a great swing ( large opportunities for extroverts ) . Also CGC has it’s own Incubation Centre (RISE Department ) where various startups are funded and regulated by students and authorities, basically it provides a platform for future entrepreneurs to kickstart their journey , right from college. There are many social groups as well as clubs for different interests. CGC Assign is a website created by students for students to access notes and prepare for examinations.
Hostel Facilities :
As my college is near my location so i don’t have to opt for a Hostel or PG . But I’ve many friends residing in PG as well as in Hostels. The Hostel rooms are quite good, the facilities are good enough , also the food is good to have as i’ve heard. (Major PG students are either in TDI society (near college) or PGs in Kharar which is few kilometres away from the campus.

Placement Experience :
To apply for placements in LPU you need to have 6+cgpa mostly. there no company as i know that went without recruiting any student. the highest was on campus was 51.03lakhs Microsoft and average was 5-6 lakhs. the students around 85 %will be placed .my plan was to do a decent job in any MNC.
Life at cgc landran.
Placement Experience :
Placement at CGC landran is decent around 70 to 80% student got placed based on your skills. The eligibility criteria usually includes minimum 60% marks with no active backlogs. Top recruiter companies includes TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Capgemini. The average package is around 3-4 lpa while highest package can go up to 10 to 12 lpa. Multiple offers are made every year across different domain.

Internships Opportunities :
I haven't done any intenship yet but Yes, internships are available at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Mohali. Companies include TCS, Infosys, startups. Roles: Web Dev, QA, Data Analyst. Stipend ?5k–15k. Tasks include coding, testing, and project work.

Placement Experience :
The eligibility for placement is no backlog or reappear and CGPA IS above is 6 and fresher they get placement for 6thsem based on the skills and knowledge of the student and they provide a salary of 3 to 12 lakhs per/ year and recently SPICEJET company give around 8 lakhs CTC for 5 to 8 students and my plans after competing the degree is to do higher education in design modeling.

Placement Experience :
As the course is designed for pharmaceutical industry so the companies like mankind, sunpharma, macloid, overseas etc. Are top recruiters. The average package is 3-3.5 lakh per annum and highest goes upto 4lpa. As after masters most of the students goes for higher studies and teaching so the placement rate is low.

Overall Placement rate is about 60 to 70 percent for every branches . Recruiters provided descent opportunites to the students. Above 7 CGPA students get eligible. Some recruiter are Infosys, TCS, wipro, Siemens etc

College doesn't keep any eligibility criteria for placement it depends on the company which came for recruitment and yea if you had scored around 8+ cgpa you are eligible for every company Regularly company which come for recruiting students are infosys,tcs ,jsw , cognizant, Capgemini,L&T,tata steel etc Average package is 4LPA and highest package is around 55 LPA Around 75-80 percent students get placed in the college Some of the branches like instrumentation and control engineering and mechanical engineering have around 98-100% placement in the previous year

Since the college comes under an institution it opens the gate for various company and even those which just require a graduation degree instead of a specific field. Cadila Lupin etc visits every year. Good 60 to 70 students gets placed.

The placement are good but there are a lot of criterias for the placement and the college faculties force us to take the placement in the development roles to show that the college has 100% placement.There are less companies for the consultancy or data based jobs. The college doesn't provide any on campus intership. They provide intership in the college Startups and they pay very very less and they exploit the interns as lot. I got only 500 rupees for doing 1 month internship and working 6 hours a week.
