From Labs to Life : Ramjas college experience

Dislikes
- while college offers placement, it could still be further improved, especially for science courses.
- labs are functional but can get congested at times (especially in summer it can get tiring)
- while canteen food is affordable, the variety could be better.
Remarks :
I chose this college because of several factors, including its reputation as one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges on the North Campus. I also got admission into DRC, but I found Ramjas to have better infrastructure, a co-ed environment, and an overall outstanding academic record. The admission process is through the CUET- UG exam, (which includes only a written exam ) for my course in sciences it included marks in physics, chemistry and biology a total of 600, to get admission into Ramjas one needs to score very well as cut off is quite high.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because it offers a wide range of options for pursuing a master's degree. It includes botany, zoology, and chemistry, all three of which are core subjects. Moreover, being a programme course means one will graduate within three years, making pursuing the fourth year a personal choice. The teaching Faculty is well qualified and passionate about their subjects, Dr Ojit and Dr Amrita Bakshi are my zoology professors are quite admired by students owing to their engaging lectures. Semester exams are held every 6 months which include theory and practical exams, and internal test, assignments and files are evaluated throughout the semester. The exam difficulty is moderate and manageable.
Internships Opportunities :
interships are offered by DU itself which is circulated among college groups. Moreover, internship opportunities are provided by Biocon, and DNA labs, which are often stipend ( roughly 5-10k/ month) these internships are focused majorly on research report writing. While internships exist, securing them is competitive.
Placement Experience :
placement opportunities for this course are limited, and the eligibility is totally based on academic performance with a cgpa over 7 at least. Placement cells do organize drives and internships are frequently shared among college groups, however, placement is the arena college definitely needs to work on. TCS has visited the camps, the average package offered is 2-3 lakhs and that too only 15-20% student secure. Often, students either pursue Master's after graduation or prepare for SSC CGL.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
the fee structure is quite affordable, 1st year fee is 16,613rs tuition fee + 125rs other charges. second year = 15878rs (15758rs + 125rs) and the third-year fee is 15878rs (15758 + 125) although the fee slightly increases every other year. Ramjas College offers several scholarships: merit-based (for obc/sc/st/pwd), Pandit Man Mohan Nath Dhar Endowment Scholarship, Delhi University Scholarship and Kotak Kanya Scholarship.
Campus Life :
campus life is vibrant, including several events and fests every month. The annual fest Mosaic is held in April-May with concerts and cultural events lasting 2-3 days. Another major fest at Ramjas is Diwali fest i.e. Ramjasotsav, while departmental and society fests occur frequently, at least once a month. The library at the college offers a wide range of books and is easily accessible and issued. Classrooms in the science block are quite huge, and a projector is available in each class throughout the college. Ramjas is known for its strong focus on sports, the college has a football ground and a basketball court, moreover, the gym is accessible for every student. Furthermore, 2024 Paralympics gold medalist Sumit Antil is a Ramjas alumni. Ramjas College student union comes up with unique agendas frequently, recently held is donating clothes within the college to help the needy.
Hostel Facilities :
I didn't opt for the hostel, but it offers shared rooms, study spaces and an average mess. Applications are based on academic merit and the distance college is more than 70km from your residing address, fees are affordable and safety is excellent within the college hostel premises.

The placement is good for students of commerce background and even many arts students get placement. But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college
Placement Experience :
Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.

du sol provides placement in news 18, aaj tak and job opportunities as according to the course of student pursuing. just visit to du sol north campus head quarter ask for the facility they will provide . bad thing is they dont provide on regular basis.

The placement cell is quite active. There are always placement and internship fairs every year and even other college students can join them. The placement recruiters are from top companies like Deloitte, KPMG, EY, etc. Although, not every one gets in these companies but then, there are other companies as well like Finshots, Voice Your Vichaar, etc. The average package is 3LPA and highest package is 8LPA.
