Remarks :

I chose this college because it had NIRF rank 1, had a very good diversity in campus and i was getting computer science in JNU from JEE mains. Also location for opportunities for jobs and career were far greater in JNU , especially in delhi. For the admission i did not face any kind of interview or group disscussion or written test. Everything was officially handled from Jossa . Also there was one more reason , cause befor NEP ,JNU offered 5 year integrated B-Tech + M-Tech program so that was a very good program for me to grab. As i come from a middle class family with income less than 5 lakh so fee is also somewhat affordable. Academic cell is somewhat good but can't expect much from government handled offices.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Just like most of other students , I had not much idea of how the course was taught but i had general idea of engineering as my older brother is also an engineer. I always had in my mind that Computer Science is the stream i want to take because of the industry pays well and careers has a good growth in it. Faculties in here are very eligible and knowledgeable proffessors here , many are from iits and even some are famous book writers in their feilds with very high expirience so learning from them is always exciting. But they are strict and they are very senior teachers and one can't argue with it, or with them. Exams dates are predefined with a semester calender. Difficulty is more than average as at times the schedule can be very hectic and continuously hard subjects. But it teaches time management what more can i say.

Internships Opportunities :

I have not opted for internship but i do know one thing that too is very negative for B-Tech students like me. In 4th year every engineering college provides 2 options , either opt for a project under a proffessor or you have to take a full time internship in a company with the full time course . But in JNU Teachers and DEAN does not allow us to take internship. They even say we will not giveNOc for for absence in class and tour studies and CGPA is on on your own. This is the state in which we students are discouraged to work in our own fields. Students who are doing internships even so have to hide this fact from teachers officially so as to not come in eyes of dean or other proffessors who might pull them back. I am saying this here because its something no one will tell officially .

Placement Experience :

Campus placements are controversial here in JNU. Big global Companies often visit for placement and internship opportunities, even for travel to other country they offer to students . Many times these opportunities are controversial as teacger favorite students ( that are mostle the good persormers in class ) get those opportunities early on. Placement cell is pretty much non existing in whole JNU. For placements its like company visit , if you have info that well and good otherwise you are left behind. There are also scholarships that Companies offer for topper students with PPO and others offers. Lowest offer is just like the industry standard of 1.8 lakhs and highest is like depending on your course. As mine is B-Tech , highest was 32 last year that was too off campus placement by out senior. So lretty much for placements you are 90% on your own and 10% placemet cell might help but cant expect.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Per semester fee is around 72000 for income more than 5 lakhs. For incone between 1-5 lakh is 26000 and for less than 1 lakh income its 5500 (all in round figures). There? Is no quota for category voice fees? There is only fee slabs Four students in different income categories of their families. Although there is no permanent building for engineering Department. But we pay infrastructure and convenience fee. End according to official data , the main building for school of engineering department is under construction.

Campus Life :

Life at campus in JNU can be said as the best at any university. So much greenery and one can see peacocks in the campus roaming freely , what can be more mesmerizing that that? Roads are there and most of all we are allowed bikes and cars inside the campus so roaming in sucha vast big university 1100 acres is somewhat accessible, obviously you can't get every where even with a bike. There are a large number of culbs and continuously engaging club activities like nature trips, social works, dance, games indoor as well as outdoor. Year on going competetions . Also to mention that DU , delhi expo and abroad universities call for JNU students to take part in their competetions , expos and joint ventures as well.

Hostel Facilities :

I have opted for Hostel room because i dont have home in delhi . All students who are not from delhi gets a room in hostels allocated . In hostels one can get any type of roomate (single seater, double seater , 3 seater and dormitaries) from a 1st year UG stufent to a last year PHD student. All hostels have in hostel mess for their residents. In JNU particularly there happens hostel elections every year for president, hostel committee and mess committee. For me particularly i contested in election and I am hostel committee members of Narmada hostel in JNU. One can expect election politics and political parties often visiting them for support and votes. Also hostel nights , special dinners in mess, festival celebration like diwali holi and poojas happens often. Mess bills per monts is like 2000-4000 depending on hotel. Per semester 1160 is hostel fee. Nothing more. Its quite affordable and mess is meh! You cant expect home like food but its average . Just eat it dont expect much.

Gargi Colleg , Delhi university

Placement Experience :

The placement is good for students of commerce background and even many arts students get placement. But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college

Placement Experience :

Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.
