Remarks :

I applied for two college in guwahati that are Arya Vidyapeeth College(Autonomous) and B. Boruah college but unfortunately my name was not published in the merit list of B.Boruah college so I chose Arya Vidyapeeth instead. The cutoffs of the Arya Vidyapeeth College is good. It might be hard for admission into science compared to arts or commerce because the cutoff is really good. There are many good and experienced teachers in the college that are friendly and helpful except for a few that are comparatively very strict and may not allow entry into the class incase you are late. The infrastructure is good with latest good equipments. The department toilets are clean but the common toilet is a little bit dirty. Other than that everything is good. There are also drinking water facilities available in college campus.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because I fell in love with botany while I was talking coaching classes. The teacher that taught me botany was a very good teacher with excellent teaching skills. That's why I chose botany as my core subject. There are also extra-curricular courses like computer courses and other skills enhancement related courses. There are many good qualified and experienced teachers in the college. All are PHD holders with some that do not have one but are good at teaching. And yes exams are held on time with medium difficult level. But can't say the same for the results as they take time to publish the results.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The total fees I paid during the admission that was on June 2024 was Rs.7480 only.Though there is a fee waiver scheme for the poor students, those that are suffering financially. The fee waiver scheme under the Pragyan Bharti scheme enables free admission to the students without having to pay any admission fee. They just had to provide their income certificate stating that their family income did not exceed Rs.2 lakh and either of their parents working in the state government or central government. Before the final exams or end semester exam, an examination fee of Rs.1630 was charged. So the total fees makes it Rs.9110. There were several rounds for admission including spot admission round. Admission was bassed on both Merit based and CUET based. Merit list for both were published seperately and the admission were also held at seperate dates. There were also reservation for backward casts like OBC,SC,ST,etc. For admission into hostel a seperate fee of Rs.13000 only.

Campus Life :

Yup life's going good. Sometimes it gets harder due to assessments, practicals, exams and other stuffs but I say it's not that bad either. Recently college week was organised in our college where we did cultural rally department wise also many sports competition were conducted. It lasted for a week and many students participated in this. Our department won many prizes during this. Also this week the college organised a food stall and art related stalls where students could sell their products. Is was held in the college auditorium. Some students opened food stalls with items like pani puris, chatts, cakes, deserts, pithas, achars, etc while others sold their hand crafts like customised mirrors, hankies, hand made jwellery, handmade clothes items, flowers, bouquets, etc. Some students even open a store related to anime stuff like stickers, anime themed keychains, dairy, katanas, etc. It was really fun seen those.

Hostel Facilities :

I have not applied for the hostel due to the strict rules and limited freedom but it's really a good option to stay otherwise. Food is decent as said by my friends that reside in the college hostel and is also clean. Hostel fee is affordable compared to rents of rooms or pgs which is exceptionally much higher. Hostel registration is also simple mostly based on merit, just have to contact the hostel superintendent and fill the admission form I chose a PG instead of the hostel which is just 10 mins away from the college campus.

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

SUPPORTIVE FACULTY AND GOOD LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Placement Experience :

While the college does not guarantee 100% corporate placement, it facilitates campus interviews and internships. Companies like Amazon, Flipkart, and Tata have rec recruited or offered internships to a percentage of students.

Dream Campus, Not-So-Dream Jobs

Placement Experience :

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My plans after my degree is to get a job in electronic domain while also focusing on my photography and editing Passion Check my work on insta sodaa.edits

My life in B.Borooah College as a science student

Placement Experience :

Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

This is one of the best colleges in our Kamrup district, students should take admission without any

Placement Experience :

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low. That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled. And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati

Placement Experience :

there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.
