Remarks :
For taking admission into kasturba medical college Mangalore there is solely one way that is NEET entrance exam which is of 720 marks and scoring above 600 is considered good to get admission into this college. Since the competition has increased in the past years and this is one of most reputed college of India so the cut off usually remain on the higher side compared to other private colleges. I had prepared for the exam via online coaching as well offline classes. Good thing:- 1. Faculty which the major factor contributing to get this college at any cost because this college has india’s best doctors who’s published books are read throughout the country as well as outside india. 2. Location as mangalore is a costal place which is very poised and beautiful city with good people around makes life more easy and good. Bad aspects:- 1. The college doesn’t have there complete campus which seams quite odd sometimes. 2. College doesn’t conducts fest and big events very frequently.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The main reason for choosing this over any other was the faculty as well as the number of hospital attached to the college which are around 6 which includes 4 govt hospital which help in increasing the patient exposure and is very helpful. The faculties are well qualified they are among those top faculties of india. They are renowned book authors whose books are read by medicos throughout the country as well as across the globe. They are the top faculties in their department and the way they teach is commendable. The teaching method is the best as they emphasise on individual growth of the student so classes are conducted in form of lectures as well as small group teaching making it more interactive with the students. More priority is given on practical knowledge. Exams take place 3 times in a year and then a final exam which is known as university exams. The syllabus is very accurately divided into 3 halves and so are the exams taken the 3rd exam is a complete syllabus exam.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes internship is mandatory as per the bond that you have to sign during the admission procedure. Internship is for 1 year and the pay is 3.5 lakhs per annum. Interns get good opportunity to assist with the doctors and have a good work load on them.
Placement Experience :
In case of medical colleges the placement is completely based on pg selection which is also quite high in KMC Mangalore compared to other medical colleges. Last year the selection rate was more than 40% which is phenomenal data.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees of kasturba medical college mangalore is divided into 2 category. Firstly the student who took admission via all india quota of NEET exam there fees is 1770000 per year for 4 years. This is the tuition fees that they have to pay whereas 10000 is the caution fees which is added during the admission so it is added to the first year fees which makes is 1780000 for first year then 1770000 for the next three years, there is no hidden fees and any additional fees that you have to pay to the college. Now talking about the 2nd category is the reservation students they almost nil it is in thousands they just have to pay the hostel fees which is same for everyone. KMC offers scholarship named Kalam Pai which is offer students who have scored good in academics i.e NEET exam as well as board exam. Every year a student is selected on the basis on the academics as well as there contribution in representing the college and various levels and a scholarship worth 20-25k is given.
Campus Life :
The major fest is Interclass Competition which takes place in the month of late march to April. Which is the most happening time of the college. For books and journals their a specified central library with a seating capacity of more than 150+ at a time. It is very big and has 3 floors and all types of book in it and the library has a reading room as well in which you can sit and have discussion with your friends. The classrooms have been recently upgraded with the latest technology as well as infrastructure with big lecture halls and big smart screens . For sports there is a dedicated sports complex called MARENA. It has all sports in it including badminton, table tennis, futsal ground, basketball court both indoor and outdoor, cafeteria, football and cricket ground, lawn tennis and a gym facility is present in the marena. There are many clubs like surgery club, medicine clubs, ortho clubs, obg club, photography club and many more which have regular events and workshops.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel are good they are also recently renovated and they have new furniture and new infrastructure and the food quality is also decent , the menu changes after every 2 weeks , a mess secretory is being appointed and he reports to the mess incharge for any change or quality of food . Registration is an easy process you just have to pay the hostel fees for a year there are 2 kind of rooms one are non AC and the other are AC their is a difference in fees as well of almost 25-30k. I had stayed in the hostel for 2 years and now I have opted out of the hostel and I stay outside in an apartment. Getting a rented room or pg is also very convenient and hassle free.

The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.
