Remarks :

I chose IIT Delhi because of its name in the engineering sphere globally and within India and the job opportunities offered upon graduation. The connections formed here are immaculate. Also, my parents and family guided me in choosing IITs because they were some of the best colleges. IIT Delhi was the most proximate IIT to my residential location (I live in Noida and was attending coaching at FIITJEE South Delhi, a 5-minute car ride from IIT Delhi). I was preparing for the JEE Advanced and secured an exceptional CRL rank of 476. JoSAA was how I was allotted my seat, in the 5th round of counseling (initially I had slid my seat in hopes of a better branch). The college has mostly good aspects, with knowledgeable faculty and high-level labs of the industry standard. However, the infrastructure is quite old, with drainage systems failing during the rainy season. Culture is good, with a lot of competition enabling people to focus on enhancing their careers. But there is also drug culture

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because this was the course I was getting with my rank at this particular rank. Further I chose it in IIT Delhi because I was situated proximate to the college and this college also provided chances for Department Change (DepC) from EE to Computer Science. Even if I wasn’t able to change my department to computer science and engineering, I would still be in a good position in the electrical Branch due to its flexibility in the current market. Term Exams were conducted timely, with half-semester exams and end-semester exams, along with multiple quizzes throughout the semester for different courses as per the course policy. The professors have good knowledge, but the caveat is that they sometimes have erratic behaviour or are unwilling to understand students’ concerns when brought to them, especially regarding unavailibilty to attend labs sometimes due to health concerns. Also, the professors can’t understand that we have different responsibilities apart from courses

Internships Opportunities :

I have not opted for any internships. However I have plans of going for internship in my second year winter vacations or after my second year vacations in the summer, to enhance my portfolio. I sincerely look forward to it.

Placement Experience :

IIT Delhi’s placement season in 2024-2025 saw over 1200 offers for over 1150 students, with more than 50 international offers. The highest international package - 2.5 crore, and the highest domestic package - 1 crore. The median salary was approx 19 lakhs. Eligibility requires a minimum CGPA and no disciplinary issues. Top recruiters include Microsoft, apple, quad eye, optiver, Goldman sachs, Qualcomm, GDC, etc. The current placement rate is 61 percent. My plans after getting my degree are going to be to probably join a quantitative firm or a core company in order to further my corporate interests.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

FOR GENERAL and OBC CATEGORY STUDENTS (income more than 5 Lakh): Year-Wise Tuition Fee: 2,00,000 Year Wise Other Charges: 11500 Break-Up of other charges: a) Examination Fees: 3000 b) Registration/Enrollment: 1500 c) Gymkhana: 2500 d) Medical Fee: 1500 e) Internet and Computer: 2000 f) Transport Charge (Bus): 200 g) Student Distress Fund: 800 h) Insurance scheme: Nil For Family Income between 1 Lakh and 5 Lakh: Year-Wise Tuition Fee: 66,666 Rest remains same For family income less than 1 Lakh: Tution Fee: 0 Rest remains same For SC/ST students: Tution Fee: 0 Rest remains same

Campus Life :

There are a large number of feats, with the majority of the feats occurring in the even semester. There is Rendezvous, the cultural fest organised in October of each year. While there are tales told by the seniors of the grandeur of the promoted and fest events, it felt as if the quality declined and the money which was there by sponsorships had been funnelled into seniors’ own pockets (counts of corruption). There are also other tests like Literati, Tryst, Pravritti, BeCon, Kaizen, etc, which are literary fests, technical fests, career fests, economic fests, social fests, etc organised in the second semester, which are not as grand but are still nice to experience. There is a wide variety of books and journals available in the library, with over 1,93,000 books for the students. There is also ample seating space in the library, with problems encountered only in exam season. Social life is amazing on campus, with a wide variety of BRCA Clubs for culture, and BSP and BSA for lit, sport.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel mess is considerably better than hostel messes of the same college. However, the hostel mess of UDAIGIRI, the hostel in which I am situated, has an unfortunate problem of having too much oil on its food or using ingredients which may be past its expiry date leading to food which does not taste good or may also cause health concerns. However, for the most part, the hostel has food which is tolerable enough to eat. When it is not, we eat in the night mess, which is open in each hostel (nearly) from 9 PM to 3 AM, which has a wide variety of food like rolls and maggi. However there are also health concerns for the night mess. The hostel infrastructure is for the most part how you would expect for old buildings, and it is definitely worse than the medical colleges. Two people have been stuffed into one-person rooms and their aren’t any air conditioning available in the hostel rooms. The washrooms also become dirty and aren’t cleaned frequently enough, with less soap.

Gargi Colleg , Delhi university

Placement Experience :

The placement is good for students of commerce background and even many arts students get placement. But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college

Placement Experience :

Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.
