- Miranda House is known for its diversity. Students from all over the world come to study here. Different culture, different languages at one place makes it easy for students to get to see different cultures from a closer view. My most favourite places of this college are library and gardens. Fests here are fun. Enthusiastic faces, loud music, relaxing environment. From hectic schedule to loud music, i have been enjoying every moment here.
- One cannot ignore the strong academic background of this college. This college has given many renowned personalities. Professors here focus on strong rational thinking and problem-solving skills rather than rote learning.
Dislikes
- Only thing where i feel college should improve is its connectivity. Jio network doesn't work here. Also the wifi doesn't get connected.
Remarks :
In order to get into Miranda House, one has to take cuet examination. The syllabus of cuet is same as class 12th. Cutoff for this college goes very high for humanities courses. For general category, the Cutoff for the demanding courses goes around 750+ out of 800. For program courses, cutoff goes a bit less as compared to honours courses. In order to prepare for cuet, one should read class 12th NCERT thoroughly as the questions in the cuet examination is multiple choice based. I chose this college because of its strong academic background and its rank 1 position for seven consecutive years. Miranda House is known for making strong women. The infrastructure of the college is surely commendable. The lawns, green lavish gardens steal the show. College should focus on the wifi connection. Rest this college is an amazing institution to shape young women.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I had Sociology as one of my subjects in class 12th and I was very interested in reading this subject deeply hence I ended up taking Sociology hons. Faculty members are highly educated, well professional. Every professor holds a PhD degree here. They not only focus on rational thinking but also they encourage students to go for field work so that we could interact more with local people and understand the concepts from a realistic perspective. No rote learning is promoted here. Professors are very friendly in nature but at the same time they maintain professionalism as well. Exams are held twice in a year i.e., semester wise. The difficulty level of the exam is easy to medium. If one focuses in class and make notes and most important practice pyqs then one will surely score above 8 CGPA.
Internships Opportunities :
Till now I have not been a part of any internships. But i do wish to get into internships in my 2nd year. Although many of my seniors have gotten into internship. Internships, at times provide LoC and at times they do provide stipend.
Placement Experience :
There's a very active placement cell in Miranda House. They host seminars, webinars every now and then. Placement cell has a site where every student has a profile and they keep on posting information about internships. Many renowned companies have been to our college like Patym, McKinsey etc. The highest package of this college is 25 lakhs per annum and the average package is 5 lakhs per annum. A lot of students have been selected from the college. Many students have been a part of Niti Aayog internship as well. I wish to prepare for upsc after completing my graduation.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tution fee of Miranda House is rs 15,460. The fee is slightly higher for science background students, around rs 19K. The tution fee is paid annually i.e., once in a year only and there is also examination fee which is to be paid twice a year as DU conducts two exams in one year. The examination fee varies according to the subjects. Its around rs 1200-1300. Students belonging to weaker section get scholarship as well. The scholarship is basically the tution fee of the college. In order to get the scholarship, student's family income should be less than rs 2.5 lakhs per annum and 85%+ marks in class 12th board. In order to continue the scholarship, students must have more than 69% of attendance and 7 CGPA.
Campus Life :
The fest of the Miranda House is known as Tempest. It is one of the most famous fests of Delhi University. Many renowned artists have been a part of this fest, be it Neeti Mohan to Neeraj Shridhar. Tempest happens to be in April. Library at Miranda House is my most favourite place. Thousand of books and journals at one place is heaven for readers. And the library consists of variety of books. Miranda House is the very first college to have labs for blind students as well. We also have DRC where we get access to computers for studying. Library has AC as well. Hence, its an amazing place to study. There are more than 20 societies in Miranda House. Starting from English debating society to traditional dancing society, college encourages extra curriculum activities as well. There are women empowerment cell and business cell as well to encourage women in entrepreneurship field.
Hostel Facilities :
I live in flat. But to get into hostel, it requires marks. If students score more in their cuet examination, their chance to get into hostel increases. Hostel fee is paid annually i.e., once in a year. Its about rs 2K. The registration for the hostel gets opened one month before the college starts. Food is of good quality and proper hygiene is maintained. Hostel area is spacious enough to accommodate a lot of students. There are many affordable pg nearby north campus. And transportation is easily available. College is at a walking distance from Vishwavidyalaya metro station and rickshaws are also available all the time. There are many affordable cafes nearby north campus with amazing food quality.

The placement is good for students of commerce background and even many arts students get placement. But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

I chose my course because I was interested in learning a business environment and management processes. Faculties are very well experienced and professional , and teaching methods are good. Term exams are held every 6 months and difficulty level is not very high .
Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college
Placement Experience :
Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.

du sol provides placement in news 18, aaj tak and job opportunities as according to the course of student pursuing. just visit to du sol north campus head quarter ask for the facility they will provide . bad thing is they dont provide on regular basis.

The placement cell is quite active. There are always placement and internship fairs every year and even other college students can join them. The placement recruiters are from top companies like Deloitte, KPMG, EY, etc. Although, not every one gets in these companies but then, there are other companies as well like Finshots, Voice Your Vichaar, etc. The average package is 3LPA and highest package is 8LPA.
