Remarks :
I chose this college because it is one of the top colleges in Guwahati, Assam, and location-wise it is located at a suitable location having good communication facilities. For admission, we didn't have to go through any kind of written test, interviews, or group discussion. It is a simple process based on the 12th board's marks and the marks of the particular subject you opt to take honors in. Once you are eligible you apply for admission through the online college admission portal and wait for the cutoffs and merit lists to be issued. You get the admission based on your marks. There is also some relaxation for the reserved quotas.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have opted for a Bachelor of Arts in economics so the course curriculum is quite vast and covers many aspects of economics as a whole. As it is a much-valued and renowned course it provides the students with various avenues to consider after the completion of the course. Talking about the faculty, the professors are highly educated and intellectual most of them are PH.ds. professors can be easily approached are always ready to help you out, and friendly. The teacher-student ratio is also decent being 5:40 per semester. Regular classes take place and there is no waste of academic time. Exams occur twice per semester, one is the mid-semester exam and another is the final semester exam. Class tests are held periodically depending on the professors. And about the fees, as this is a government college, fees are very minimal at 5000-6000 per year and have very minimal or almost no hike in fees. Government scholarships are also available and fee waivers can also be opted for by the student
Campus Life :
Campus life is very social with several cultural fest taking place. The college annual week, general freshers, and cultural program are some of the fests that are held. Moreover is yearly general election is held to elect the student union which looks after the various aspects of the college. The library is also well stocked having a good number of books on various subjects and interests, it is an air-conditioned room to provide a suitable reading atmosphere for the students. Sports and various extracurricular activities take place during the college week and there is also provision for gym and ground games like Cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, etc. Hostels are also available for both boys and girls at a very affordable cost. Clean rooms, good infrastructure, and healthy food prepared hygienically. If you don't want to take the hostel facilities then the locality has several PG and rent rooms available from which you can choose.

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
