Remarks :

SCMS is one of the most reputed private colleges in the country, so there was not much thinking behind choosing it. The admission process, i.e., Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) was a three-step process that included an MCQ exam, followed by a written ability test, and lastly wrapped up by a personal interview and group discussion round. The cut-off for the MCQ test is generally 75-80%. I didn't need much preparation because the whole process required me to always be on my feet and spontaneous.

Course Curriculum Overview :

SCMS, as I said earlier is one of the most reputed and established private colleges in the country, so that eased my choice of opting for my college. The faculty was more than adequately qualified for the level of teaching needed for the course. The methods were practical, unique, and quite impactful. The exams were conducted at the near end of every semester, with periodic tests, project submissions, etc. The exams and tests were moderately difficult, nothing some self-study cannot overcome.

Internships Opportunities :

I did opt for an internship as a part of my compulsory summer internship program in college. It was under a stock broking company and I learned in depth about financial instruments, services, the market, etc. Yes, internship opportunities are available through the college, but they encourage us to find them ourselves so that we get to experience a bit of the real corporate world.

Placement Experience :

For a student to be placed, he/she needs to have at least a GPA of above 6.5 and have no active backlogs in any course. A few renowned visited recruiters for placement were, PwC, KPMG, Accenture, Zomato, Tres Vista, ICICI Bank, Deloitte, Ernst and Young, Barclays Bank, etc. The highest package offered was 9 lacs, while the average package was 3 lacs. About 97% of students get placed every year. My plans after getting the degree are to complete my CFA program and start my venture, down the line, say, after 3-4 years.

Campus Life :

The life at the campus is splendid, with events happening almost every fortnight. The flagship event of the college, i.e., SYMPULSE, is organized every year in January or February, and it is worth waiting for. The quality and quantity of books available in the library are amazing. Books not available in the physical library are easily accessible in the online library. Numerous types of sports are played on the campus, cricket, football, rugby, basketball, kabaddi, tennis, table tennis, etc., are few to be named. Various clubs, societies, etc., are student-run in the college, covering every aspect of social, political, economic environment, etc., there are to be covered. I rented a PG around the campus, and it's a bit costlier than the normal PGs around the country, but it had all the amenities I needed and was just about 200 meters from the college, so can't complain much.

Placement Experience :

I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
