- The opportunities offered at college and beyond through NLS are immensely helpful. They help in making connections and overall development of the individual.
- The model of examinations and faculty at NLS is high level and not like any other college.
Dislikes
- The college administration is a bit unresponsive and unplanned in its future endeavors. They are taking in students at higher rate without having apt residential facilities for them
- One thing is dislike is that the admin asks for money at every other step. Whether it is lunch in mess, or late arriving to college after every trimester, or applying for revaluation or repeat exams, one has to make payment for every thing. There is a money minded thing that should be discouraged.
Remarks :
NLS has consistently topped the NIRF rankings of law colleges for several years now. During my prep for CLAT which is the examination through which admission to national law universities takes place, I heard a lot about NLS, its well-defined course structures, the rigour that the students are trained through and the opportunities that are opened up for the students in their future careers. About the CLAT exam: The exam was of 150 marks and has five sections including English, GK, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Maths. The difficulty level of the exam is moderate. A rank list is published through which the admission process to different colleges is decided. Further, there are no other steps involved such as GD or interviews. The cut-off in 2020 for NLS was around 90. Preparation: I joined a coaching centre called Career Launcher for class prep. It provided sufficient prep materials for CLAT prep of all five sections.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The BA LLB course is well structured and the course outlines are well thought out at NLS. The integration of BA with LLB allows for the students to also delve into the deeper details of reasoning and social factors that go into policymaking and judicial reasoning. About Faculty: The faculties at NLS are well-trained, highly professional and well-equipped with the knowledge of the subject that teach. They also push students to think critically of the law. About half the professors have completed their PhD and others have LLMs. Regarding examinations: The examinations are conducted at the end of every trimester. They are mostly moderate to difficult and are mostly open-ended questions. Regarding fees: For our batch of 2025, the fees have been constantly Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum. But for the current first years, it has been hiked to Rs. 4 lakhs. The college also provides scholarships and assists the students in applying for other national and state-level scholarships.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, the internships are with law firms and top lawyers and advocates. The names of firms mentioned above who come for placements also offer internships. The stipend offered generally ranges from 4k to 15k. During the internships, one generally has to research legal questions, analyze fact situations, and indulge in drafting. Interning with advocates also involves getting first-hand experience in the courts.
Placement Experience :
NLS has always had a good placement record. Almost everyone from the batch is placed with a law firm or a company. Top-tier law firms such as CAM, SAM, Trilegal, AZB, Khaitan, Saraf, Indus, Veritas, ICUL etc. offer internships and PPOs to the students. For our batch, about 40 students have already received PPOs and about 45 students are sitting for placements. Last year, about 30 students sat for placement and several offers were made to students. The average package offered is 17 lakhs while the highest goes up to 24 lakhs. I have got a PPO from Trilegal and will be joining the firm's corporate practice next year.
Campus Life :
Campus life is chill. There is also the Student Bar Association (SBA) that mostly negotiates and coordinates with the administration on several issues. There are student-run committees that organize several events such as Mooting, negotiations, debates, quizzes, etc. organized by the committees. We also have a Univ Week in May every year which involves several competitions like singing, dancing, pottery making, painting, etc. Regarding sports: NLS has a field for football, cricket and other sports. There is also a basketball court. Several sports such as the Gully Cricket League, Basketball and football leagues happen across the year. Regarding library and classrooms: The library is state of the art with books and journals from every area of law to social sciences. There are elaborate seating spaces and common rooms for meetings and discussions. The classrooms are built to facilitate a Socratic-style method of teaching and have ACs projectors and microphones.
Hostel Facilities :
There are 5 boys hostels of which 3 are triple sharing and 2 are double sharing. Every room has a table, bed, mattress, chair and almirah for each resident. Every hostel also has a common fridge and induction. Similarly, there are also 4 girls' hostels. There is an open quad in the boy's hostels. The hostel fee is around 33k for us. One problem with current hostels is the lesser capacity to accommodate students while at the same time, a larger intake of students is happening every year. The current first-year batch has 300 students as compared to 120 students in our batch. Regarding mess: There are two messes, one for boys and one for girls. The mess menu consists of several north Indian and south Indian dishes. The taste of food varies. Sometimes, the food is of decent quality. However, at other times, they have bad taste and quality. Overall, it is decent but a lot could be improved in the same.

There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students

The placement and job opportunities are good in our college. Our college provides us only with UG Courses so most of the students pursue higher education after that. The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.

The criteria is the cgpa should be above 7 and the companies visited are wipro, flipkart, amazon etc. the highest package is 48 lakh per annum and lowest pacuis 3 lakh per annum and the average is 6 lakh per annum
