The reason I chose this college was, first this college was a top 5th college in Karnataka, and placements (campus recruitments for the job) were good In this college, the teaching in this college is average and the faculties and staff are quite strict but manageable. yeah, I attempted the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) and secured a 20k rank in this exam, in the third round of counseling I got (electronics and communication engineering from) the ECE branch in Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) yeah obviously I expected for CSE (computer science engineering)or ISE (information science engineering) I was not able to make it. During the admission process, they asked me to submit all my documents and letters from KCET and finally, my admissions were done and I started pursuing engineering at that college.
the reason I chose this college was, due to the bad financial situation in my family during that time I was searching for a good college with minimal fees. and the course I opted for (electronics and communication engineering) ECE was not my choice but rather with no options. faculties were well qualified and the teaching methods were above average. students are supposed to put more effort into getting a good placement is what I believe, for a semester there were five events there were two tests and the other three were either assignments or mini projects, seminars, tests, etc these were the internal assessments, during the end of the semester the SSE (semester end examinations ) were held, the difficulty level was average. fee policy was pretty average I paid 57k per year which includes exam fees, tuition fees, laboratory fees, extracurriculars, wifi, sports, student welfare, etc. Students used to get State scholarships.
I have already finished one of my internships in the core domain of ECE, so being in the 6th semester I am looking forward to getting another internship for a better experience to work in the industries after getting a job, internships are also useful for resumes. it inspires recruiters to recruit students who have pursued more internships so there is a company named “Mindtree” roles offers data analysts an intern with a 4000 per month stipend.
placements in SJCE are really good compared to others, so the placements in the college start in the 6th semester of engineering. So more than 100 companies come to SJCE every year. the eligibility criteria for placements are a student should be pursuing at least the 6th semester more, and the cutoff CGPA of a company varies, but the minimum CGPA for a student to give a placement examination for a company should be 6.5 CGPA. there was this company called “Mercedes Benz” thia company recruited more than 20 students for a package of 10LPA and “Bosch” recruited more than 10 students for 10LPA, the percentage of getting placed here is about 90% provided the student works hard on the skills required for the company. I have plans of getting placed in a good company with a better package after my degree.
There is a fest called “Jayciana” which is celebrated in SJCE, jayciana is the biggest college fest in Mysuru and it is also called mini Dussehra, as Mysuru is famous for its culture and the festival Dussehra. we will be having our pre-fest activities a month before the fest it's like a festival in SJCE this will be in the months of March and April. students(organizers) will be assigned to the competitions and activities and many from all over Mysuru come to participate. at the end of the month last three days will be the main event, international artists will perform in the last 3 days, sports are given less importance in SJCE, a sports meet will be held compilations between different branches, and more than 15 group events will be assigned to participate. social groups and clubs play a large role in SJCE, so I was in the music club as I am a vocalist and the adventure (trekking) club of SJCE, there are more than 15 clubs including technical and nontechnical clubs in SJCE.
Hostels in SJCE are average, there is a boys hostel and a girls hostel on the campus itself and there is one more boys and girls hostel outside the campus. So there are more than 7 blocks inside the campus boys' hostel and the campus girls' hostel. boys' hostel curfew time starts at 10 pm and girls' hostel curfew starts at 7 pm, food given in both the hostels is average, and the outside campus boys' hostel has better food compared to the inside campus boys hostel. you will be provided with a bed, a table a chair, and a half cupboard the inside hostel fee is about 80k per year, the outside hostel fee is 70k per year, and the outside campus hostel is about 2km far from the college campus .so if in case you won't get a seat in hostels, you can find both girls and boys pgs nearby (area- vijayashripura circle ) and even there are plenty of houses for rent.
For our degree program we have well placement opportunities other than bsc agriculture and btech biotechnology. For our college only company will come like itc, shula wine, Nestle etc and they offer good package minimum around 4lakh and some have aptitude test and interview some direct interview
There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students
The placement and job opportunities are good in our college. Our college provides us only with UG Courses so most of the students pursue higher education after that. The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.
the average package is 6 lpa and highest is 14 lpa and there is a placement cell that helps students to get placed. the placement rate of our college is 90%. and the companies come to our college is tcs, tech mahindra, infotech, zelethra, wipro etc.
I got placed in a company called Glory Infinity Private Limited, there other offers from The math school infosys ultratech every student had multiple offers from company. Not A very high packages but good opportunities
The criteria is the cgpa should be above 7 and the companies visited are wipro, flipkart, amazon etc. the highest package is 48 lakh per annum and lowest pacuis 3 lakh per annum and the average is 6 lakh per annum
The placement of the college is excellent in the cse stream it has an average package of 9 lakh per annum and highest package of 38 lakh per annum it is a good salary or package for an engineer so it is good placement
Faculties are well qualified and some of them are doing active research. However the college does not have a very active research environment but they do not hinder a student from taking up projects outside. They provide all support like recommendations, attendance permissions etc.
All the faculties are well qualified and quite renowned in their research fields. However some of them have this quality of holding personal grudge and targeting. Some assume you know a lot and don't teach properly and expect more from the student. There is a lot of pressure even with internals, assignments and other things.
For placement, The student shouldnt have any backlogs. There are companies that are stated as "Great Places to Work" as well as some startups that come for college recruitment. The highest package last year (2023) was 6000000, and the average package of the university is approximately 850000. A good percentage of people who opt for placements do get placed decntly. My plans after my BBA are writing GMAT and going for my MBA abroad in a good college.
