PRSU Courses and Fees

PRSU runs courses in arts, science, commerce, management, pharmacy, law, education, library science, computer applications and physical education through its 32 UTDs. Its fees are lower than many private institutions while the university also holds NAAC A+ accreditation.

The MBA course has four options: Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management and Systems Management. M.Pharm is offered in five specialisations, which gives the PRSU pharmacy school a wide course range in Chhattisgarh.

PRSU Admission Process

PRSU uses a centralised merit-based admission system for its UTD courses. Most selections are based on national or state-level entrance exam scores, while affiliated colleges may run their admission timelines separately.

UG Admissions (BA / B.Sc / B.Com)

For undergraduate courses in affiliated colleges, PRSU mainly uses CUET UG scores. Allotment depends on the CUET UG score and the subject needs of the chosen programme.

• Eligibility: 10+2 from a recognised board with relevant subjects
• Minimum marks: 45% aggregate, or 40% for SC/ST candidates
• Entrance: Valid CUET UG score in the relevant subject domain
• Process: Online application through the PRSU portal, followed by merit-based allotment

B.Pharm Admissions

PRSU admits students to B.Pharm through the CG Pre-Pharmacy and Health Science Test (CG PPHT), held by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CGPEB). Seat allotment is based on CG PPHT merit rank and counselling.

• Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics at minimum 45%
• Entrance: CG PPHT
• Process: CG PPHT counselling, seat allotment and document verification

MBA, MCA and Professional PG Admissions

For MBA admission, PRSU accepts CAT, CMAT, MAT and ATMA scores. Shortlisted students complete document verification before final admission. MCA admission is based on CG Pre-MCA merit rank. PRSU MBA cutoffs usually fall in the 40 to 60 percentile range in CMAT or MAT, so students with moderate national exam scores can also be considered.

MA, M.Sc, LLM and Other PG Admissions

PRSU fills seats in postgraduate arts, science and law courses through CUET PG. Merit lists are prepared using CUET PG subject-domain scores.

• Eligibility: Graduation in relevant subject with minimum 50% marks, or 45% for SC/ST
• Entrance: Valid CUET PG score in the relevant subject
• Additional requirement for M.Sc Biotechnology: B.Sc with Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry or Microbiology

PhD Research Admissions

PRSU conducts PhD admission in phases depending on supervisor availability. UGC NET or GATE-qualified candidates can appear directly for the interview, while other applicants must take the university entrance test.

• Eligibility: PG degree in relevant discipline with minimum 55% marks, or 50% for SC/ST
• Entrance: UGC NET/GATE holders are exempt from the written test. Others take a university entrance test.
• Process: Written test followed by interview with the department research committee

PRSU Placements

The Central Placement Cell at PRSU supports recruitment for UTD students, mainly from management, pharmacy and applied science courses. Since PRSU is a large academic and research-focused state university, many students also prepare for government exams, higher education and research roles.

During the 2024 placement season, 135 students from UTD programmes were placed through campus drives. Companies such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Cipla, Lupin and CMC visited the campus. Pharmacy and management students received the stronger offers among the listed courses.

PRSU placements should be read along with the university's wider career pattern. Many MA, M.Sc and law students appear for UPSC, state PSC, UGC NET and judicial services exams, while MBA and pharmacy students see higher private-sector placement participation.

PRSU Rankings

PRSU is part of the NIRF ranking system and has improved its university-category position. It moved from the 151-200 band in NIRF 2023 to the 51-100 band in NIRF 2025.

In the NIRF Pharmacy category, the PRSU School of Pharmacy was placed among the top 125 pharmacy institutions in India in 2023. The university also has an A+ NAAC grade.

PRSU Scholarships

PRSU students and students in its affiliated colleges can apply for government scholarship schemes. The main application route is the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), which includes central and state government schemes.

NSP scholarship applications open every year in August and must be submitted before October 31. Students need an Aadhaar-linked bank account and college enrolment number for registration. PRSU also has a dedicated SC/ST hostel with reduced tariffs for students preparing for competitive exams under the state government All India Services pre-examination support scheme.

PRSU Campus and Infrastructure

PRSU's main campus is spread over 309 acres in Amanaka, western Raipur. It includes all 32 UTDs, the administrative block, central library, hostels and sports facilities. The campus supports both teaching work and the university's role as an affiliating body.

Hostel accommodation is provided for male and female students. Boys can stay in Gandhi Hostel and Azad Hostel, with charges up to INR 6,360 per year. The girls' hostel fee goes up to INR 5,470 per year. A separate SC/ST hostel is available for students preparing for competitive examinations under state government support schemes.

The central library includes books, journals and digital resources for different subject areas. PRSU also has separate laboratory blocks for science and pharmacy departments, a multi-purpose sports ground and a health centre. Its 309-acre campus is among the larger university campuses in Chhattisgarh.

PRSU vs Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya vs Hemchand Yadav University

Students in Chhattisgarh often compare PRSU with Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV), Bilaspur and Hemchand Yadav University, Durg for postgraduate and integrated courses. These three universities serve different regions and have different academic strengths.

PRSU has the stronger NAAC grade at A+ and is located in Raipur, the capital and commercial centre of Chhattisgarh. GGV has the benefit of central university funding and a larger campus. Hemchand Yadav University is a common choice for students from Durg, Bhilai and Rajnandgaon districts.
