Read Full ReviewLife at the campus.Oh this is the question I am most happy to answer. The campus is covered in lushy green trees and it feels like you are living in a very peaceful environment always from the busy citylife of Delhi . JNU is very beautiful in terms of its campus. Infrastructure is not so developed like IITs and I think it Is mainly due to fund cuts but the campus is very liberal as you can road around at night or anytime as you please there is no hostel time restrictions and it is safe too mainly for girls who wish to taste the night air freely .there are many talks organised on various current social topics and it is I think the most distinguishing feature of JNU.Regular talks and discussions just enrich the environment. There are many sports are too like badminton court or basketball court . There are many parties here in campus . There is a Student organization too the election of which feels like a festival in itself.Food in hostel is also decent
Read Full ReviewYes I have opted for the hostel, the cost of hostel is 1160 semester and 3500 around mess bill per months. In first year will get the dormetries while from 2nd year onward you will get the two seater hostel.
We don't have a Hi-Fi first organised in a college but general talks meeting discussion etc conducted on daily basis or weekly. The video of book and journal in the library is very good and sports activities are also very good.
Read Full ReviewYou can apply for hostel while registering for JNU on the website. After enrolling in the course on the campus you have to visit the DOS/IHA office to get your allotment where you will get alloted to a dormitory on temporary basis, where 6 people live in a room after a few months, you will be alloted to a hostel with 2 person per room. Every hostel has its own mess in the hostel building itself.
There are always some events being conducted in the JNU Campus, Be it fests, cultural fests or workshops. It's hard not to find the books you are looking for in the library, although sometimes there can be scarcity of books depending on the requests of the students for their availability. Regarding sports and extracurricular activities, you can always find some sports events going on in the JNU Stadium, the campus is no doubt the best place for someone interested in sports and games, there are various clubs conducting tournaments, whether it be centre specific or all over university. Clubs like Drama Club, Dance Club, Music Club, Debate club and many others are also available on the Campus and the students running them are friendly enough to welcome new members without any restrictions.
Read Full ReviewJNU has at least 18 hostels and there are 400 students in every hostel. There are some hostels for girls, some for boys and most of them are good hostels. The infrastructure is quite good. They provide everything for our daily uses. The food quality is quite decent and menu is very good. Hostes are generally in campus areas and quite cheap for students.
Life in campus is quite decent, people are very helpful and kind. There is only Protests and talks in JNU, sometimes DJ night also happens in campus. There are lots of extracurriculum activities like sports, singing, dancing. There are lots of clubs in jnu. Also, they provide students to grow up their stamina and activities.
Read Full ReviewI have opted for Hostel room because i dont have home in delhi . All students who are not from delhi gets a room in hostels allocated . In hostels one can get any type of roomate (single seater, double seater , 3 seater and dormitaries) from a 1st year UG stufent to a last year PHD student. All hostels have in hostel mess for their residents. In JNU particularly there happens hostel elections every year for president, hostel committee and mess committee. For me particularly i contested in election and I am hostel committee members of Narmada hostel in JNU. One can expect election politics and political parties often visiting them for support and votes. Also hostel nights , special dinners in mess, festival celebration like diwali holi and poojas happens often. Mess bills per monts is like 2000-4000 depending on hotel. Per semester 1160 is hostel fee. Nothing more. Its quite affordable and mess is meh! You cant expect home like food but its average . Just eat it dont expect much.
Life at campus in JNU can be said as the best at any university. So much greenery and one can see peacocks in the campus roaming freely , what can be more mesmerizing that that? Roads are there and most of all we are allowed bikes and cars inside the campus so roaming in sucha vast big university 1100 acres is somewhat accessible, obviously you can't get every where even with a bike. There are a large number of culbs and continuously engaging club activities like nature trips, social works, dance, games indoor as well as outdoor. Year on going competetions . Also to mention that DU , delhi expo and abroad universities call for JNU students to take part in their competetions , expos and joint ventures as well.
Read Full ReviewThere is hostel for all students ( non - delhi ones ). There are boys , girls and some coed hostels. Hostel fee is very minimal for one semester (6months ) it is only 50 -100Rs. Each hostel is equipped with gym , mess , reading room, wifi for students , Common room ( TV, TABLE TENNIS ) And badminton court . However mess charges can differ in every hostel ( range - 2200 to 3500Rs )per month. If you want to rent pg it might cost a little bit more (around 7-8k ) per month , which i will not promote if you are getting hostels then.
Freshers party are being organised by different centres ( faculties). Central library - Dr BR Ambedkar Central library , opens 24 hrs with 9 storeys it has all books and internet facility for students. Apart from this each centre(faculty) has its own library . JNU has its own stadium ,gym , meditation club , indoor badminton court , dance club . There are many groups working on different aspects . One can choose to enhance their skill . Like- women's reading club, valmiki study circle ., judo club ,and many more.
Read Full ReviewThe hostel food is cheap and comparatively the best food for that cost. The food contains the breakfast which has milk, bread and butter as mandatory and rest like dosa , vada, idli, pasta , paratha etc as per daily schedule. The mess bill is around 2200 to 2500 per month.
The best campus life is there in JNU because students from different backgrounds different countries come together and make their presence. We have North Eastern students, GSP students (global studies program students). We have the Ambedkar central Library where we can access the benefits of reading rooms for 24/7. The best part is this university has a safe atmosphere which creates a gender neutral aura. There are inter and intra school competitions for different sports and also we have elections for political parties which strengthens the democracy of the students.
