VISTAS Chennai offers admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses for regular and part-time learners. The university has ten full-time and four part-time courses, including options such as B.Tech and MBA. Its course mix includes seven UG programs, two MBA and pharmacy courses, and one PhD program.

VISTAS Chennai Admissions 2025
VISTAS, Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies, Chennai selects students for UG, PG and doctoral courses through academic merit, entrance exam scores, or both. Most UG courses require 10+2 with qualifying marks, usually 45% to 60% depending on the program. PG applicants need a relevant undergraduate degree with at least 50%.
B.Tech admission is based on the university entrance exam VELSEE. Management courses may also accept national tests such as CAT or MAT. For professional courses, students fill out the online form and pay an application fee, generally INR 1,000 for generic courses and INR 2,000 for engineering and management. Applicants also upload scanned educational transcripts, personal identification, passport-sized photographs and category certificates, wherever needed.
The university shortlists applicants using entrance exam scores and then releases merit lists. Selected students attend counselling and document verification. They must carry original certificates, the completed application form, exam scorecard, admit card, identity proof and other relevant documents. Admission becomes final after fee payment and verification.
International applicants use a separate application portal. They must submit a passport, earlier academic certificates for primary, secondary and higher education, an Equivalence Certificate from the AIU, visa documents and photographs. After provisional selection, students report to campus with original documents, pay the fees, complete the S Form and C Form, and register with the Foreigner’s Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of arriving in India.
International students may also need an HIV/AIDS test report as per Indian norms, proof of Indian residence and a bonafide certificate request. The admission process depends on clear eligibility rules, valid documents and compliance with national and university requirements for every admission category.
VISTAS Chennai Scholarships
VISTAS Chennai offers competitive scholarships based on VSAT scores or merit. These scholarships can provide partial or full tuition support. The university also offers scholarships through the Vels Scholarship Admission Test (VSAT), where high scorers can receive up to a 100% tuition fee waiver.
Students scoring above 90% in Grade 12 board exams may be considered for merit scholarships.
