Established in 1965 and named in honour of the former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) Meerut functions as a state government institution in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. UGC recognition sits alongside an A++ Grade from NAAC, which is the top accreditation tier awarded in the country. Beyond its own teaching departments, the university acts as the principal affiliating authority for western Uttar Pradesh, with a network of more than 700 affiliated colleges spread over the districts of Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Bijnor, Amroha, and Moradabad.

Two national positions were recorded in NIRF 2025: a placement in the 151-200 band of the University category, and a rank of #41 among State Public Universities nationally.

Sitting 70 km away from Delhi, the Meerut campus runs 90 programmes that are organised under 11 faculties, with total campus intake reaching 12,000 seats. Every seat is filled purely on merit, since the university operates no management quota in any of its programmes.

The on-campus portfolio spans professional, technical, and traditional streams:

  • B.Tech covering 7 specialisations, namely CSE, IT, ECE, Electronics and Instrumentation, Mechanical, Chemical, and Agricultural Engineering, with a 4-year total of INR 3,69,000.
  • B.Pharma, spanning 4 years, priced at INR 4,17,800 in total.
  • BA LLB, an integrated 5-year degree, with total fees of INR 1,92,035.
  • BA Hons, BCom Hons, BBA, BFA, BSc Hons, available in 20+ specialisations lasting 3 to 4 years, with fees between INR 81,500 and INR 1,76,185.
  • MBA, a 2-year degree costing INR 1,25,400 in total.
  • MCA, also 2 years, with total fees of INR 1,17,000.
  • M.Tech in CSE and ECE, running 2 years, at a total of INR 1,45,000.
  • MSc in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, Bioinformatics, and Physical Sciences, with fees from INR 94,650 to INR 1,68,000.
  • PhD in every discipline, entry being through the CCSU entrance test, from which UGC-NET and CSIR-NET qualified candidates are exempt.

Eligible students may draw on state schemes such as the UP Post-Matric Scholarship as well as the Central Sector Scholarship.

NIRF placement figures record 323 UG students and 453 PG students placed from the university, the median stipulated at INR 5.6 LPA for graduates of 3-year UG degrees and INR 6 LPA for those completing 2-year PG degrees.

Admission Update: Entry to the 2026 academic session is currently underway at CCSU Meerut. For B.Tech, the UPTAC Round 3 seat allotment came out on July 31, 2026. CCSU Meerut Courses and Fees

More than 90 programmes are taught on campus under 11 faculties. Because the institution is funded by the state government, its fee structure ranks among the cheapest anywhere in western UP: the 4-year B.Tech, billed at INR 3,69,000, costs far less than what AKTU-affiliated private engineering colleges in the same region charge.

Diploma holders entering through B.Tech Lateral Entry pay INR 90,000 across 3 years, which counts among the cheapest lateral entry routes available in western UP. The MBA figure of INR 1,25,400 also sits under what government university management programmes charge on average nationally.

CCSU Meerut Admission Process

Merit alone decides every admission here, and no paid seats or management quota seats exist in any programme. Reservation follows state government policy: OBC 27%, SC 21%, EWS 10%, ST 2%, and PwD 3%.

B.Tech Admission Process

Ranks from JEE Main Paper 1 drive B.Tech entry, handled wholly by UPTAC, which is the UP Technical Admission Counselling body that fills 100% of the university's engineering seats. Applicants need 10+2 with PCM and at least 45% marks, relaxed to 40% for SC/ST candidates. The sequence involves registering on the UPTAC portal, listing branch and college choices, accepting the allotted seat, and then reporting at CCSU Meerut carrying original documents.

UG Admission Process (BA, BSc, BCom, BBA)

CUET-UG scores decide BA Hons, BSc Hons, BCom Hons, and BBA seats, with applications routed through ccsuniversityadm.samarth.edu.in on the CCSU Samarth portal. Self-financed seats go strictly by CUET-UG merit, whereas certain government-aided programmes admit on the Class 12 aggregate instead of CUET. Candidates from General, OBC, and EWS categories pay INR 600 as the application fee, while SC, ST, and PwD candidates pay INR 300.

MBA and MCA Admission Process

Both the 2-year MBA and the 2-year MCA admit on CUET-PG scores processed through AKTU state counselling. MBA candidates must hold a graduate degree with a minimum of 50%, and MCA candidates need graduation that includes Mathematics, again with 50% minimum. Allotment runs on CUET-PG merit after UP state reservations are applied.

Law, MEd, BPEd Admission Process

For LLM, MEd, BPEd, and MPEd, the university conducts its own entrance test at entrance.ccsuforms.in. The integrated 5-year BA LLB, however, admits on CUET-UG scores, and the 3-year LLB follows a separate CCSU admission route.

PhD Admission Process

Doctoral applicants sit a university-level entrance test built around research methodology together with the chosen subject area, and must hold a PG degree carrying 55% marks. Those already qualified in UGC-NET or CSIR-NET skip this test altogether and move straight to the interview round.

CCSU Meerut Placements

In the latest reported cycle, NIRF figures for the campus show 323 UG students and 453 PG students placed. Median compensation stood at INR 5.6 LPA for those completing 3-year UG degrees and INR 6 LPA for 2-year PG graduates, while graduates of the 5-year UG route, meaning BA LLB and the integrated BBA+MBA, recorded a median of INR 5.2 LPA.

Recruitment activity concentrates on B.Tech, MBA, MCA, and professional science candidates. Engineering hiring comes largely from IT services companies together with manufacturing firms based in the NCR region, whereas management and computer applications graduates find roles across banking, FMCG, and IT. Being close to Delhi NCR opens up a wide pool of industrial and corporate recruiters for the university.

Placement MetricFigure (NIRF Data)
UG Students Placed323
PG Students Placed453
Median Package (3-year UG)INR 5.6 LPA
Median Package (5-year UG)INR 5.2 LPA
Median Package (2-year PG)INR 6 LPA
Median Package (3-year PG)INR 7 LPA

These numbers capture hiring inside the university's own teaching departments plus selected activities that extend to affiliated colleges. Since this is a large affiliating state university, outcomes differ considerably from one department and programme to another, a point worth weighing for anyone assessing the institution on placement grounds.

CCSU Meerut Rankings

India's highest accreditation grade, NAAC A++, has been conferred on the university, an outcome that points to its governance standards, research output, and student results. The NIRF 2025 edition placed it within the 151-200 University band and at #41 among State Public Universities nationally.

Ranking BodyCategory2025 Rank
NIRFUniversity (India)151-200 band
NIRFState Public Universities#41
NAACInstitutional AccreditationA++ Grade

Very few state government universities across western UP carry NAAC A++ accreditation, and this is one of them. That #41 position among State Public Universities puts it in the upper tier of government institutions both within UP and nationally. Its absence from the NIRF top 150 in the overall University category reflects how competitive that national benchmark is.

CCSU Meerut Scholarships

Support here comes from government schemes rather than an internal fund: the university runs no institutional scholarship of its own, though its scholarship office helps students reach state and central schemes for which they qualify.

SchemeEligibilityBenefit
UP Post-Matric Scholarship (SC/ST)SC and ST students with UP domicileFull tuition reimbursement
UP Post-Matric Scholarship (OBC)OBC students with family income below INR 2.5 lakhPartial fee reimbursement
Central Sector ScholarshipFamily income below INR 6 lakh and 80%+ in Class 12INR 10,000 per year (UG) and INR 20,000 per year (PG)
UP Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya ScholarshipUP domicile students with meritCoaching support and fee assistance

Full tuition reimbursement under the UP Post-Matric Scholarship means SC and ST students effectively study at zero cost, given how low the government fee structure already is. Applications are submitted each year on the UP Scholarship Portal at scholarship.up.gov.in, ahead of whatever deadline the state notifies.

CCSU Meerut Campus and Infrastructure

The university stands in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, at a distance of 70 km from Delhi. Its teaching departments hold 11 faculties and 90 programmes with campus intake reaching 12,000 seats. Dedicated faculty buildings within the academic complex serve Science, Arts, Commerce, Law, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Physical Education, and Allied disciplines.

Students have access to a central library, computer labs, science laboratories, a sports complex, and medical facilities. Since hostel capacity and fee details get revised every academic year, applicants should verify hostel availability directly with the university at ccsuniversity.ac.in. Being near Delhi NCR also puts a large employment market and regular industry events within reach.

Two roles run in parallel here: the university teaches on its own campus while also serving as the main affiliating authority for 700+ colleges throughout western UP. That scale is why employers, and institutions handling higher education admissions, recognise the name widely across western UP and Delhi NCR.

CCSU Meerut vs MJP Rohilkhand University vs Agra University

Comparisons among western Uttar Pradesh applicants frequently place CCSU Meerut beside Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU) Bareilly and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, known as Agra University. Each of the three is a UP state government university running multi-discipline UG and PG programmes admitted through CUET-UG counselling.

Of the three, CCSU Meerut carries the strongest accreditation at NAAC A++, and it alone appears in the NIRF University 151-200 band. Access to industry and placement opportunities is better here than at Bareilly or Agra owing to the Delhi NCR location. Agra University, the oldest institution in this group, is particularly well regarded for law and arts, while MJPRU Bareilly caters to students of the Rohilkhand region on comparable government fees and the same CUET-based entry.
