University of Lucknow (LU) admits students through its own entrance tests for many courses and accepts national exam scores for selected programmes. The university was established in 1921 and offers over 80 postgraduate programmes and 20 undergraduate programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Management, Education, and Fine Arts.
For admission, BA, B.Sc, and B.Com applicants appear for the Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET), while most PG applicants take the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET). B.Tech admission is through JEE Main and UPTAC counselling. Application fees include a one-time LURN registration fee of INR 100, UG application fees of INR 1,200 for General/OBC and INR 600 for SC/ST/PwD, and PG application fees listed by programme type below.

UG Application Process
- Register at lkounivadm.samarth.edu.in and pay the one-time LURN fee of INR 100.
- Complete the centralised UG admission form online.
- Upload scanned Aadhaar, photograph, and signature in JPEG format, with each file up to 50 KB.
- Pay the UG application fee: INR 1,200 for General/OBC and INR 600 for SC/ST/PwD.
- Download the admit card from the portal when it is released.
- Appear for UGET at the allotted centre and then take part in counselling and document verification.
LU follows Uttar Pradesh state reservation rules: SC 21%, OBC 27%, ST 2%, and EWS 10%.
B.Tech Admission
B.Tech admission at Lucknow University is not part of UGET. Students need a valid JEE Main 2026 score and must take part in UPTAC, the UP State Technical Admissions Counselling process. The Faculty of Engineering has 450 B.Tech seats.

Law Admission
LU offers three law routes. The 3-year LLB and 5-year BA LLB use university-level entrance tests. The 5-year BBA LLB uses CLAT 2026 scores, and vacant seats after CLAT allocation are filled through UGET.

The integrated BA LLB course has 330 seats and receives over 8,000 applicants each year. Admission is based on LU's BA LLB Entrance Test.

PG Admission 2026
Lucknow University conducts PGET for more than 86 postgraduate courses in humanities, sciences, commerce, social sciences, fine arts, education, journalism, and social work. If applications for a course are fewer than the available seats, LU can skip PGET and give admission by direct merit. MCA admission is based on CUET PG 2026.

PGET Exam Pattern
PGET is an offline test based on MCQs. The paper has 100 questions for 200 marks, runs for 90 minutes, and has no negative marking. Questions are drawn from the undergraduate syllabus of the relevant subject.

- Create a LURN on lkounivadm.samarth.edu.in.
- Fill the PG admission form for the chosen programme.
- Upload the required scanned documents.

Lucknow University Ph.D. admission is based on the Research Entrance Test (RET) and a Personal Interview. The selection weightage is 70% for RET and 30% for the interview.
