Domicile, quotas and reservation

  • General-category UG and PG seats require J&K or Ladakh domicile.
  • The overall quota description assigns 15% of UG and PG seats to the ICAR All-India Quota, which accepts applicants from across India without a domicile requirement.
  • The programme-specific quota description lists 19% of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture seats under ICAR and a separate VCI quota of 13% for B.V.Sc. & A.H. B.Tech. Biotechnology and B.Tech. Dairy Technology have no ICAR or VCI quota.
  • SC, ST, OBC and EWS reservations follow J&K UT government norms.
  • NRI and OCI applicants do not require domicile. The general admission description includes B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and related programmes, while the FAQ eligibility statements restrict these applicants to B.V.Sc. & A.H.

UG entrance examination and admission process

A single offline, OMR-based UG CET covers Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Science and B.Tech. streams. The paper contains 180 multiple-choice questions and lasts 3 hours. Physics and Chemistry each contribute 60 questions; the remaining 60 questions are from Biology, Mathematics, or Agriculture, depending on the programme. The unit-wise syllabus in the SKUAST-J CET Information Brochure corresponds to Class 11 to 12 topics.

The detailed UG selection description places candidates in merit order using their CET rank alone. Qualifying examination marks establish eligibility and resolve equal CET scores; Class 12 marks are not added to the CET score. This differs from the programme table’s description of CET plus qualifying examination merit.

  1. Applicants register at the UG application portal using their personal information.
  2. The login credentials sent to the registered email address are used to access the form.
  3. Applicants complete the Basic Information, Educational Qualification and Image Uploads sections.
  4. A recent photograph, signature and thumb impression must be uploaded in JPEG or JPG format.
  5. The application fee of INR 2,000 is paid online through card or net banking.
  6. The confirmation page and payment receipt should be printed and retained.
  7. The admit card is downloaded from the university website when released.
  8. Candidates attend counselling according to their CET merit position. Rounds 1 to 4 involve merit-based seat allotment, followed by a mop-up round if vacancies remain.

Counselling takes place at the SKUAST Jammu campus in Chatha, Jammu. Candidates must carry original documents, 1 set of attested copies, their admit card and the non-refundable counselling fee of INR 1,000. The document list includes the domicile or permanent resident certificate, birth certificate, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and certificates, and a category certificate where applicable.
