NGP IT Admission Dates 2027

The tentative 2027 schedule includes TANCET for ME and MBA applicants, followed by TNEA registration and counselling for undergraduate engineering admissions.

NGP IT Courses and Fees

NGP IT provides 10 undergraduate programmes, comprising eight BE branches and two B.Tech branches. It also offers an MBA, three ME specialisations and six Ph.D. programmes. Anna University, Chennai, affiliates all UG and PG courses. The figures below apply to Government quota seats. Fees for Management and NRI quota seats are different and are set by the Tamil Nadu Fees Determination Committee.

TNEA demand is highest for CSE and ECE, so their closing cutoffs are well above those of the core engineering branches. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is one of the institute’s newer B.Tech options and focuses on data engineering and applied machine learning careers.

NGP IT Admission Process

Undergraduate engineering seats at NGP IT are allotted through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, commonly called TNEA. The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu, manages this central counselling process. Selection uses Class XII marks instead of a common engineering entrance examination.

BE/B.Tech Admission

Applicants must pass 10+2 from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The required aggregate is 45%, reduced to 40% for SC/ST applicants. Tamil Nadu Board students do not need a separate entrance examination. Students from CBSE and other boards also apply through the same marks-based TNEA system.

• Submit the required certificates online for verification.
• Check the TNEA random number, which is used to settle ties in the merit list.
• Join online counselling, fill in course and college choices, and wait for seat allotment.
• Visit the allotted college to verify documents and pay the required fee.

CSE and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science usually record the higher TNEA cutoffs at NGP IT, with closing levels equal to 85 to 95 percentile in academic marks. Entry into Civil and Mechanical Engineering is comparatively possible at lower cutoffs.

MBA and ME Admission

For MBA admission, students need a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% and a valid TANCET, CAT or MAT score. Seat allotment takes place through the Tamil Nadu PG/MBA/MCA Common Counselling held by Anna University. ME applicants follow Anna University PG counselling using TANCET or GATE scores and must have at least 50% in a relevant BE/B.Tech degree.

Ph.D. Admission

A relevant ME/M.Tech degree with a minimum aggregate of 55% is required for Ph.D. admission. Eligible applicants take the institute-level entrance test and then attend an interview. Working professionals may also choose the part-time Ph.D. route.

NGP IT Placements

The Training and Placement Cell arranges campus recruitment for final-year students from September through April. In the 2024 season, NGP IT reported a highest offer of INR 17.5 LPA, an average package of INR 10 LPA and a placement rate of 97% among registered students.

More than 150 companies joined the on-campus recruitment drives. Recruiters mainly came from IT services, product development, BFSI, core electronics and other engineering sectors. Most high-value offers went to graduates from CSE, B.Tech Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, HCL, Zoho, Capgemini, L&T, TVS Motors, ISRO and Bharat Electronics Limited are among the notable recruiters. Students begin in-house preparation in their second year, with training in aptitude, communication and technical skills.

NGP IT Rankings

India Today and IIRF include NGP IT in their engineering rankings. In 2026, India Today ranked the institute #207 out of 308 engineering colleges in India and 25th in Tamil Nadu. The 2026 IIRF B.Tech list placed it at #25 out of 98 colleges nationwide.

NGP IT Campus and Infrastructure

NGP IT occupies a self-contained site within the NGP Group of Institutions campus in Coimbatore. Its facilities include dedicated academic buildings, computer centres, electrical and electronics laboratories, a central library, a seminar complex and a canteen.

Students can use technical reference material and digital resources from IEEE, Elsevier and Anna University through the library. Each department has research laboratories that meet AICTE funding requirements. Wi-Fi is available throughout the blocks, while smart classrooms support digital lessons and live-streamed teaching.

Placement preparation runs across all four years of study. For sports and fitness, the institute provides separate grounds and an indoor gymnasium. Department associations also conduct annual technical and cultural events.

NGP IT vs Coimbatore Institute of Technology vs Sri Eshwar College of Engineering

NGP IT, Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) and Sri Eshwar College of Engineering (SECE) are options for students seeking engineering education in Coimbatore. Each institution has AICTE approval and uses TNEA counselling, where allotment is based on Class XII marks.

Among these three colleges, NGP IT has the highest NAAC grade at A++ and includes newer branches such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Cyber Security. CIT, established in 1956, is the oldest and has a longer alumni presence in Coimbatore’s industrial sector. SECE began in 2007 and has a developing placement record. All three draw applicants from the same TNEA pool of students with Class XII PCM marks who want to study engineering in Coimbatore.
