Affiliated with Anna University, the KPR Institute of Technology was established in 2009. The institute is AICTE approved, in addition to being NBA and NAAC accredited. KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology admissions are both merit based and entrance based. In 2024, the institute was ranked at 108 for BTech, by The Week.

KPRIET Coimbatore’s flagship course is the four-year BTech program. It is offered in four specialisations: Chemical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Systems, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

Candidates should have cleared 10+2 with 45%, along with Physics, Chemistry and Maths as compulsory subjects. Selection is based on JEE Mains Scores, followed by TNEA counselling. Rs 3.87 Lakhs is the total fees of this program.
In addition to BTech, KPRIET courses include BTech Lateral, BE, BE Lateral, MBA, ME and PhD.

The institute awards scholarships to deserving students. The Merit Scholarship is awarded based on academic performance, while the Sports Scholarship is for students excelling in athletics. These require an application. Scholarships for SC/ST and Minority students are based on family income and other criteria, with a selection process. The Physically Challenged Scholarship is for students with disabilities, to students with economically backward families. The First Graduate Scholarship supports students who are the first in their family to pursue higher education. Additionally, the Endowment Scholarship is granted to deserving students, based on funds received by the college.

KPRIET Coimbatore Placements 2024 maintained a 93% placement rate. The highest CTC offered was recorded at INR 54 LPA. The average salary was recorded at INR 5.2 LPA. 165+ recruiters were present on-campus. More than 850 jobs were offered by reputed organisations like Capgemini, Cognizant, Accenture, TATA, Mphasis, Infosys, IBM, and HSBC.
