Malda Medical College and Hospital was established as a government college in 2011 and is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. It offers numerous courses such as UG Diploma, MD, MS, MBBS, and Nursing, Medicine & Health Sciences programs. Admissions are made based on NEET entrance examination. 

The college offers MBBS at the undergraduate level. Malda Medical College fees for MBBS is INR 12,000 yearly. The college does not provide placement features for pass-out students. However, there are many internship options available for MBBS-graduating doctors. The college offers an internship stipend of more than INR 20,000 per month during the internship. Some students also opt for teaching junior students and may apply for trainee teacher positions in the medical college.

The college facilitates scholarships provided by the the central and state government. Another kind of scholarship is the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship provided by the Government of Bengal, which offers up to INR 60,000 annually. Malda Medical College has a campus area of 17 acres with all the necessary facilities to cater to the needs of the students and faculty members. The facilities include central library, e-library, separate hostels for both boy and girl students, canteen, a trauma care center and super specialty Operation theatres. The campus is located less than 2 km away from Malda Town railway station.
