University of Calcutta is inviting applications for PhD Admission in Applied Sciences. Candidates can apply by submitting the application form along with the application fee bank challan at the Calcutta University campus before March 3, 2025.

CU Kolkata PhD Eligibility

• Candidates must have a Master's in Engineering/Technology or equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade.
• Candidates qualified with a First class in Bachelor's in Engineering or Master's in Science with a minimum 55% aggregate marks are eligible to apply however, they have to qualify the entrance test (short answer type) and other requirements.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or equivalent grade is available for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwD and other categories.

CU Kolkata PhD Selection Process

• PhD entrance test comprises two parts:
  • Written test
  • PPT presentation with an interview.

• The written test includes MCQs and/or Short Answer type questions for 1-hour duration.
• Written test topics cover Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics basics, Electronics, Communication Systems and Computer Science.
• Written test qualifying marks are set at 50%.
• Candidates who qualify the written test must give a presentation on their proposed research area during the interview for final selection.
• The interview will focus on the proposed research area and related topics.
