IIT Bombay has officially announced the cut-off marks for Part-A of both the CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) and UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) 2025 exams. These cut-off marks are crucial for shortlisting candidates for further stages in the admission process for design programs at IITs and other participating institutes. Both the exams have a specific cut-off for each category, based on the mean and standard deviation of Part-A scores. Candidates who qualify the Part-A cut-off will be eligible for the evaluation of Part-B answer booklets.

Mean and Standard Deviation for Part-A

The mean and standard deviation values are calculated separately for both exams. The values are used to determine the cut-off marks for various categories.

CEED 2025 Cutoff for Part A:

• Mean: 45.48
• Standard Deviation: 16.98

UCEED 2025 Cutoff for Part A:

• Mean: 61.50
• Standard Deviation: 25.69

Cut-Off Calculation for Part-A

For both exams, the cut-off marks are determined by the mean and standard deviation for Part-A. The method is different for the candidate category:

• For OPEN, the cut-off is added as half of the standard deviation to the mean score.
• For the reserved categories, the cut-offs are calculated as follows:
• OBC-NCL and EWS: 90% of the cut-off for the OPEN category.
• SC, ST, and PwD: 50% of the cut-off for the OPEN category.
• The final cut-off values are rounded to two decimal places. This makes sure that scores get readjusted in a fair, category-specific way.

Part-A and Part-B Examination Details

Part-A Examination:

• Type: Computer-based test
• Regrading: Not allowed
• Re-evaluation: Not permitted
• Normalization: The scores are normalized by the degree of difficulty involved in the examination slot. When the slot a candidate sits in is easy compared to other slots, their raw score would be normalized down; and vice versa if it is hard compared to the rest.

Part-B Examination

• Mode: Essay-based test comprising of two questions
• Marking: Done personally by experienced examiners
• Retotaling: Is not allowed
• Answer Booklets: These are not provided to the candidates once marked
• Retention: Answer booklets are retained for only three months after the result.
