Eligibility Requirements for PhD Programs

  • Candidates should possess either a 1-year master's degree following a 4-year bachelor's degree, or a 2-year master's degree following a 3-year bachelor's degree, with a minimum of 55% marks
  • Those with a 4-year bachelor's degree must have secured at least 75% marks and obtained their degree from prestigious institutions ranked within top 200 in NIRF or recognized as institutions of National Importance
  • Applicants with M.Phil qualification must have secured minimum 55% marks
  • For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/Differently-Abled candidates, a 5% relaxation in marks is applicable across all educational qualification criteria

Admission Process for PhD Programs 2025-26

  • The university conducts an entrance test with two components: research methodology (50%) and subject-specific questions (50%). Candidates need to score a minimum of 50% marks to qualify for an interview, with 5% marks relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/Differently-Abled candidates
  • The final selection is based on combined scores: entrance test performance (70% weightage) and interview performance (30% weightage)
  • Selected candidates will be listed according to their fields of specialization and offered admission to the PhD program
  • Students must clear both components - entrance test and personal interview - to be considered for final admission

Full-time PhD scholars at CMR University can apply for the CMRU fellowship under JRF/SRF, with a monthly stipend of INR 25,000 for the first two years and INR 27,000 for the third year.
