Eligibility Criteria for PhD Admission 2025

Candidates must meet the following academic and national-level examination requirements:

• Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree with at least 60% marks or CGPA of 7.0 on a 10-point scale.
• Relaxation: 5% relaxation in marks for SC/ST/PD categories.
• National Level Examination Requirements: Candidates must have a valid score in NET/GATE/UGC-JRF/CSIR-JRF/DBT (JRF A category)/ICMR (JRF category I)/NET-LS/INSPIRE-PhD/JGEEBILS/JEST or any other recognized exam.
• Exemptions from GATE Requirements:
  • B.Tech/B.E./B.S. graduates from CFTI (Centrally Funded Technical Institutes) with a minimum CGPA of 8.0.
  • Exceptional MBBS candidates may also apply.
• Applicant’s age should not exceed more than 28 years at the time of joining. Age relaxation of 3 years will be given for OBC (Non Creamy Layer) and 5 years for SC/ST/PD applicants.
• Candidates with backgrounds in Physics, Chemistry, and Data Sciences can apply for a Biological Sciences PhD with relevant national-level fellowships.
• Selection will be based on offline Interviews conducted by IISER Berhampur.
