The clash of CBSE Class 12 board exams and JEE Main 2025 Session 2 during the first week of April has raised eyebrows among students and parents. Several of them have made a plea to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and National Testing Agency (NTA) to either shift the dates of the JEE Main exam or modify the timing. But there is no word from the officials so far.

Will JEE Main 2025 Be Postponed?

Until now, no official notice has been issued by NTA on the rescheduling of JEE Main 2025 Session 2, which is to be conducted from April 2 to April 9. The date conflict mostly faces the candidates opting for CBSE subjects such as languages (April 2), home science (April 3), and psychology (April 4), which fall on the same dates as the JEE Main exams.

Media news indicates that NTA will possibly meet with exam coordinators to sort out the situation. But till a public notice is made, the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 will go as scheduled.

CBSE board exams will take place between 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and JEE Main will be in various shifts all day. It can prove troublesome for the students to take both exams without interfering with their performance due to the clash of times.

CBSE's Response towards the Date Clash

CBSE has considered the entrance exam schedules while determining the dates for CBSE Class 12 board exams. In its official release, CBSE said:

"The date of holding entrance examinations for the students of Class 12 has been considered, and an attempt has been made to finish the examinations long before the entrance examinations."

Yet, students giving both JEE Main and CBSE elective or language exams will have to prepare and schedule very carefully so as not to face last-minute issues.

Who Will Be Affected?

Students taking regional languages, home science, and psychology under CBSE Class 12 will be worst hit because of the date conflict. They might have to appear for both exams on the same day or get just a brief break between them.

What Next?

With more than 13.11 lakh aspirants having applied for JEE Main 2025 Paper 1 in January, a high number of students are likely to appear for Session 2 in April. Even though the science students' board exams conducted by the CBSE end on April 4, allowing them an easy break before JEE Main resumes, the students with language or elective examinations might find it difficult to fit both.
