Sambalpur University PhD Eligibility
- Candidates must have a Master’s degree in a relevant subject with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University.
- A relaxation of 5% marks is provided to candidates belonging to a reserved category or those who have obtained their Master’s degree before September 19, 1991.
- Employed candidates must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of registration.
Sambalpur University PhD Selection Process
- Candidates who qualified UGC/CSIR NET, GATE, or other national examinations or those eligible for fellowship from national-level organizations/institutions are exempted from the PhD Entrance test conducted by the university.
- Non-exempted candidates must appear for the Research Eligibility Test of Sambalpur University (RETSU).
- The Entrance Test will consist of MCQ’s and the total duration of the test is 2 hours.
- Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the Eligibility Test to qualify for the Viva-Voce Test for their respective subjects, and the list of successful candidates will be published on the University website.
- A relaxation of 5% marks is provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/Differently-abled categories.
- The final merit list will be prepared using a comprehensive evaluation system that assigns 70 marks to the candidate's past academic career and 30 marks to their Viva-Voce performance.
- Viva-Voce evaluation will be based on:
- Subject knowledge
- Research Interest
- Communication skills
- To successfully qualify the Viva-Voce examination, candidates must secure a minimum of 15 marks.
