Eligibility: Who Can Apply for the CSE PhD?
Applicants can use any one of the following qualification options:
- ME or MTech in a relevant discipline with at least 60% marks or a 6.0 CGPA.
- BE or BTech in Computer Science or an equivalent degree with at least 75% marks or a 7.5 CGPA.
- MCA or MSc in Computer Science, IT, ECE, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or Operational Research with at least 65% marks or a 6.5 CGPA.
Students waiting for their qualifying-exam results can also apply. Part-time applicants must have at least two years of relevant work in industry or an academic institution and must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of admission.
Written Test and GATE Exemption
The selection process includes a written test and an interview for shortlisted candidates. The final decision also considers past academic performance. Candidates with a valid GATE score of 95 percentile or above are exempt from the written test, but they still have to follow the remaining selection steps.
The written test will cover logical ability, mathematical sciences and computer science. The computer science part covers C or C++ programming, data structures and algorithms.
