Kashmir Government Polytechnic came into existence in the year 1958 and was temporarily functioning in the barracks of Naseem Bagh, Kashmir University campus, initially training in three disciplines viz. Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. In the year 1962, the institute was shifted to the present campus at Gogjibagh. The institute was temporarily closed in the year 1969-70 due to some reasons and was later revived in the year 1972. The discipline of automobile engineering was added on the revival of the institute. In the year 1986, Electronics & Communication and two Post Diploma courses viz, Post Diploma in Rural Technology & Management and Post Diploma in Computer Science were also introduced. The institute is spread over an area of 14.875 acres of land

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Every semester you have to pay 2000 or 2400 and examnation fees is 1000 per semester and if you get back log u can clear but backlog fees 1 paper is 200 and 2 backlog 400 if u have mpre then 2 u have to play 1000 in year fees u will get everything books and manu more things
Campus Life :
Books are available every semester on libary on also newspaper books and free wifi and the libary is very good first if u have to enter libary u have put bag speratly then u have to do entry to libary the reason why u came libary
Hostel Facilities :
No i have. Opted for hostel bcx my home is 12 13 km far from collage but i heard it from friends that it is good u have to come and there is no raging in the hostel i think it is good qnd the food is best

Placements in our college are average only, not very high but not zero also. Few companies come every year for campus recruitment, like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and some local construction firms. They mostly offer roles like junior engineer, site supervisor or trainee. Highest package was around 8 LPA for IT profile, average goes between 3-4 LPA. Almost 50-60% students get placed from campus, rest students go for off campus or higher studies. Eligibility for placement is you need minimum 6.5 CGPA and no active backlogs, also they check communication skills in interviews. No big mass recruiters like in IITs, but still some opportunities are there if you prepare well. If not getting placed through campus, I plan to try off campus drives and also thinking to prepare for govt exams or maybe do M.Tech. College do conduct some training sessions and mock interviews but main thing depends on self preparation.

Here almost 95% students got placed.average salary is around 6-7 lpa.Companies like wipro,infuses,bhel visited here.my plan after degree is to do mtech from iits. Highest package is around 45 lakhs (off campus). On campus it is around 25 lpa.

I am always moved by my college’s course curriculum which is multicultural and gives students a wide range of choices. The courses are demanding but the lecturers are always ready to provide support and counsel. It is affordable to all through scholarships and fair fees.

Eligibility criteria for placement depends on the company, majorly all companies asks for minimum CGPA of 7 or 7.5. Some past major companies which comes for recruitment are amazon, sprinklr, paytm, nvidia, ICICI bank, HDFC bank, maruti suzuki etc. According to 2023 data, highest package offered was 53 LPA, average package offered was 18 LPA, minimum package was 5 LPA. Percentage of students get placed in 2023 is 85%. My plans after getting the degree is to either works on corporate or to prepare for UPSC.

My University Life In The University of Kashmir.
Placement Experience :
The eligibility criteria for the placements of jobs was 65% in the grade card if graduation. The recruitment process was followed by a job examination and job interview. Cipla, SKIMS were some of the recruiters that visited the university and offered almost 15 jobs. The average package offered by the recruiters was 40-70 thousands per month. And the highest package offered by the recruiters was 1.1 Lakh per month. In this recruitment process almost 40% students got placements. I got a private job in a private pharmacy company. Now, I have chosen this job as my carrier after getting the degree.

There were no job or placement opportunities available and it didn’t bothered the college. The main aim of the students as well included to just pass the degree and get out of there. Faculties also discouraged about the job market scenario outside the college which alleviated the trouble.

Previously there was 100% on campus placement in university but now it's only somewhat 70%. Companies come for placement also they select students but most of time it sells based company not a product based company also they offer quit low packages. Most of students try off Campus Placement where they get some good offers. Average package is about 5-7 lakh
