Dislikes
- Inconsistent teaching methods. Some faculty teach very well most times but sometimes they lack that dedication.
- Poorly maintained gym. Weights are off balance, machines are on the verge of breaking down
- Poor hostel maintenance, when something gets broken, the administration takes forever to fix it.
- The first years are kept like prisoners in their rooms as the guards try to protect them from 'Ragging' which decreases their exposure to college life.
- Holidays and vacations - Too less! You have to sacrifice your attendance at some point to visit your homes during festivals like Diwali and Holi.
Remarks :
There are many factors which made me choose this specific college : 1. Location - The location is THE BEST. You have clean weather of Rishikesh along with many travel/tourist spots/treks nearby. The River Ganga flows just infront of the college which makes that area relatively cool and serene. This was probably the biggest deciding factor for me choosing this college. 2. Research scope - During the time I got selected, this college was the 2nd best choice for research enthusiasts after AIIMS Delhi. The college, since it's opening in 2012 has made many national and international level connections which makes it easy to get involved into various research programs, student associations and a lot more. 3. Academics - The college/hospital has internationally recognised faculty/consultants with a plethora of knowledge, curious student slike us can use and apply. 4. College Fest - One of the major factor, PYREXIA makes soo many memories. I was in the organising team this year and loved it!
Course Curriculum Overview :
Ok, MBBS is a compulsory course for anyone who is trying to be a doctor so that was a no brainer. The course is divided into 4 professional years and 1 year of internship. Each year has 4 exams - the midsem, the endsems, the pre professional exams and the professional exams. Not only that, each subject, each year takes monthly end modules or simply tests. The faculty are well a bit complicated to explain. But Id say out of 200 faculty members, 120 are good teachers. Teaching methods vary for different faculties. Some like to teach in clinically oriented ways, some like to teach I pathologically oriented ways. Most of them teach with the help of powerpoint presentations. They are great at solving doubts. One thing you might find lacking is time. As they rush through the topics often (well this is the story of every medical college ever). Even the huge topics like breast cancer gets alloted just 1 lecture for 1 hr and the faculties have no other choice to skip much portion of that.
Internships Opportunities :
I have not yet completed the course yet but when I do, I will be placed as an intern doctor in the hospital itself and be offered the stipend of Rs 30000. Interns are supposed to learn work from other doctors by helping and working alongside them.
Placement Experience :
After completion of 4 years of the course, you have to do an internship for 1 year straight. It offers a stipend of Rs 30000 per month which is a lot for an intern. There is no bond system as this is a Central institute. After getting selected for PG and getting enrolled here as a junior resident, you have to work everyday, but the salary is great, it's Rs 1 lakh for JRs, Rs 1.2 lakhs for SRs, and 2-3 lakhs for the faculties.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The college is a Central Institute of National Importance, it asks of you a minimum amount of fees in return for so much that you will be proud of yourself if you get selected here. It offers you a full 5 years course for just Rs 15400. Category Specific discount? Have no information regarding that. Furthermore, there are no extra charges for hostel and electricity. Mess at first charges about 3600 as security fees which will be returned after no dues after 5 years. Then subsequent mess fees is charged monthly which is on an average is Rs 4000.
Campus Life :
Campus has a great infrastructure, just feels good to take a walk along the campus roads after dinner everyday. The college hosts 2 fests and 1 UG conference (which btw was first started in 2024) One is Invicta - the intracollege sports fest, hosting various sports tournaments between all the batches Conducted in months of march- april One is the greatest thing of all time - PYREXIA, the annual intercollege sports and socio-cultural fest, which is conducted in months of sept- oct. Library is a spacious place with availablity of almost all the books and journals required during the whole curriculum. There are multiple clubs featuring extracurricular activities. Clubs for every sport. Clubs for cultural activities like singing, dancing and acting. A literature club for all the geeks out there. Hostel Facilities :
Hostel infrastructure is pretty average, not too good, but it all depends on how well you maintain your rooms. At first, the rooms you get are double/sharing, but in 2nd year you get single rooms and full privacy. Hostel has all the necessary facilities like washrooms, geyser, ROs for clean water, water coolers for cool water, common rooms, veds, chairs and tables, but no pillows, buckets or other such needed amenities, that you have to bring you own. The mess is better than most colleges as it is run by students. It runs on an otc basis. Cancel anytime, eat anytime. Food is billed monthly, depends on how often you eat. Average price is about Rs 4000. There is no extra price for hostel registration you just have to visit the warden and get you registration done and room alloted on day 1.

Companies do come here for placements and many students get placed as well but there's always the student factor as not everyone deserves to be placed either. My seniors are getting placed at 8.7 to 40 lpa specially the mba courses are getting placed higher.

To sit for placements, the students have to be in 3 semester. Few famous companies that came in for placements are HCL, Tech Mahindra, ICICI, ANZ, Infosys, Wipro, etc. The highest package this year went up to 40 LPA and average package was 8.7 LPA. Around 95% of students got placed this year. For me I want to work in corporate for a few years then I want to pursue my PHD side by side.

Placements are very good. Placement criteria is based on cgpa and student behaviour. Good cgpa and no back allowed you to sit in placement. Highest package is 1.24 cr and average package is 4lpa. About 60% students get placed per year from campus. Tech Mahindra, TCS, wipro, Deloitte HCL etc companies visited fir placement.

I choose this course mainly because I wanted to pursue marketing for quite some time as I am extremely extroverted person. The faculty here are pretty well qualified atleast the ones who have taught me they really take interest in making everyone interact and share opinions
