- There is free bus facility that runs across the Guwahati City to provide smooth communication to the students.
- There is a World class Auditorium with All types of lighting, airconditioner and can hold 1600 members at a time
Dislikes
- There is a large number of undergrowth in most of the areas in the University campus.
- The process of obtaining various documents is very slow in the campus. They literally make you run from one desk to another to Receive the documents.
Remarks :
When I applied for this college they used to conduct an entrance exam of 100 marks. And I was the 1st rank holder of my time for 84 marks. The primary reason I joined this University because it is one of the finest university in the entire northeastern region for Commerce. And also there were only two institutions that provided this course at that time. These days one can admit in this course in merit basis, based on their 12th Marks/Percentage.
Course Curriculum Overview :
There is a team of Highly professional teachers and professors both permanent and contractual who are totally dedicated towards not only educating the students but towards a holistic development of the students. Very helpful and support teachers
Internships Opportunities :
I have completed an internship with The Railways. There are various opportunities for internships including both remote and onsite internships and also Hybrid internships. One can choose internships options from railways , nationalised banks, private banks, media houses, etac.
Placement Experience :
Campus placement is mainly provide for the Professional courses such as B.Tech and MBA. There is a well established placement cell and also an entrepreneur cell, where students form various fields can collect information about jobs. In my course students general opt for appearing the NET exam and pursuing PhD. One can also opt to apply for various government exams and can apply in managerial roles in private corporations.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fees for 1st semester is ?25000 and ?23000 for the subsequent 9 semesters. This includes bus Service running throughout the Guwahati City, library fees, caution fees, playground fees, event fees and all other academic fees. If you opt for campus residence you will be provided with 2 seater hostel for a fees of ?3560 per annum and a monthly Mess dues not more than ?1600. Daily Bus service fees is included in the per-semester admission fee. The fees is same for all categories of students of my batch because this is a Self sponsored course. Students can apply for Ishan Uday special Scholarship For NER.
Campus Life :
There are various clubs within the campus like the Drama Society, the eco club, NSS, NCC association etc. They organise various events including the varsity week, youth fest, manifest Kommertio, etc where the students get an opportunity to showcase their talents. By the way I am currently the best Actor of Gauhati University
Hostel Facilities :
I currently reside in a hostel within the campus. The hostel fees is ?3640 per annum for the first year and ?2780 for the subsequent years for a two seater room. The mess dues which is not more than ?1600 is needed to be paid every month. Every hostel has free wifi, electricity, water supply, working staff, cleaning staff, gardener, and a security personnel. Furniture such as bed, table, chairs, wordrobe, shelf, etc are provided by the University. Sports facilities such as table tennis boards, carroms, volleyball courts, badminton courts, are available in each and every hostel.

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

Dream Campus, Not-So-Dream Jobs

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
