- The college campus life is better than my expectation but it's faculty are not that good. I don't like their way of teaching but some are also very good, supportive.
- Thus college is situated at the small town/village BURLA which is not much developed but this campus would definitely give you the feel of nature. World's longest Hirakud Dam is situated 4 km away from the college. Many sanctuaries, waterfalls and tempels situated within the range of 10 km from the colllege.
Dislikes
- As the oldest Engineering college in odisha. Still it did not developed well. The faculties are paid more then some Nit's but they do not teach properly. There is the lack of infrastructure, companies in this area. But, definitely it would be deveploped soon because the odisha government has decided to convert this state college into centrally funded technical institute.
- The connectivity is not that good to other cities. The government should developed the city whuch has the oldest aengineering students. The college Dean should take serious step for the teaches who doesn't show intent of teaching and also take serious step for the students who involved in ragging.
Remarks :
This is the oldest Engineering college in odisha and has decent placement rate. This college is famous for its core branches like Mechanical, Electrical and civil. Those who want to pursue or have interest in core Engineering field, then this college would be one of the best state Engineering college. My elder brother also completed his Bachelor of Technology Degree from this college and placed in L&T with the package of 10 lakhs. No, there is not a separate test for joining the college. Students who appeared for jee or ojee Exam after their 12th or BSC program can apply through ojee counselling. Usually the counselling process starts from the july starting or from the end of June. There are four rounds in the counselling. The colleges and the course you opt and your percntile in the exam will decide your college. There is no obc category in ojee counselling. There are only general, Ews , sc and st. Cut off for general category students: Cse- 60000- 80000 Cse AI/ML- 70000- 90000
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have chose mechanical Engineering in veer surendra sai university of technology due to my interest in this branch also this college highly focus on its core branches. The syllabus of this university is comprehensively designed and structly follow the fundamental of the subject. The professors are highly educated, most of them hhane pursuedtgere post graduation and phd from various Nit's and IIT's. They have intense knowledge , experise and experience on their subject.But, Their teaching method is not that good .They only stick to their syllabus and not allow any out of syllabus questions. They have their own notes and also want from students to follow them only. But there are also professors who engage creative and innovative questions. They give you the fundamental knowledge of the subject. Overall, the method of teaching in the college is bit older whuch you might like or not. In a year there are two semesters in which the mid sem is 30 marks and end sem is 50 marks.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, students from 3rd semester starts internship in various companies. Some companies which offered internships with stipened are microsoft, wipro, Infosys, deloitte etc. If you are software branch student then your stipened would be bit higher. You would be given data analysis, robotics ai and machine learning, according to your time and management you can perform internships but minimum 2 internships are required at the time of placement.
Placement Experience :
The placements and job opportunities are good for the core Engineering field students. In the year 2023 95 percent mechanical students placed. If you opt for the software field then you would not satisfied with your package and placement. You have to score more than 6 cgpa to sit in the pacement, which is the rule of this college. Recruiters such as wipro , L&T, vedanta, GenC , Infosys etc. Mainly these companies recruites large number of students every year. Maximum package of 2023 is 43 lakh by amazon get by a Etc student. The average package is 6 lakh. All these records are according to the incampus. Many students prepare for the Gate Exam and other government Exams if they are unable to achieve their desire package.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Total Fee structure - 89040 Registration fee - 10000 Admission fee - 31040(TFW), 19040(NTFW) Both registration and and admission fee will be taken as tution fee. Mess Charge- 34000 Hostel Development charge - 14000 This is the actual fee of year 2024 batch students. The given structue of fee is followed since last few years. For the year of 2025 you can check from the official website of VSSUT. Yes, some scholarships are also provided to the students through college itself for the financially burden students. The fee is same for all categories students, it only differ according to the TFW and NTFW. The mess charge+ Hostel fee in second year is 34000, which is lesser than the first year. There is also self financing course exist in the institute whose tution fee is higher than the regular course. The scholarships provided by the institution depends on the income mainly these are organised by the alumni of college.
Campus Life :
The campus of the college is very good and well mantained, it's campus area is very big. As this is the oldest college, so a large number of cultural, tecnical fests took place in this college. The annual techno managment fest " Samavesh" and cultural fest "VaSSaUnt whuch took place in the month of December and March. A CENTRAL LIBRARY of vssut also present in the campus where you can issue all the books of your course and also provide silent environment to study. If you have interest in sports you can join clubs of badminton, cricket , kabbadi etc. where large number of students participate in the interhouse tournament and various competetions which takes palce in the regular interval. A sports fest "Illumina" takes place every year in the December where you can participate in various soprts such as swimming, cricket, khokho, relay race,kabaddi etc. and the winner team gets prize. There are also various groups formed by the college and seniors such as Dance club, literary society.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels of this college is very well maintained. In this university tere are various Histels for students which are alloted on the. basis of their year. For boys their first year hostel is pulaha HOR and for girls it is Anuradha HOR. First year college will be same always but the second year and the after that it depends on the seniors , what they. In the pulaha HOR there are 4 bocks where students are arrange on the basis of their branch. In one room , there is acconidation of 3 students. The hostels are well maintained with proper calm environment. The food quality of the hostel mess is very good you are provided food 4 times in a day. If you are a non vegetarian you wll enjoy the meal, vegetarians can be bored with the paneer. It is your wish to choose the hostel you can also live in pg's. You can choose at the time of registration. If you choose pg then you might face little problem as there are not pgs available for rent and you are provided food only 2 times in day.

After completion of this course go for national health mission recruitment In odisha opsc amo exam conducted many students were passed the exam from our college and got posted. You can go for many pharmacy company 100 percent of students getting placement

There campus placement here are ok startups came here and many big mncs like tcs, flipkart etc. Some department get companies like the MBA but that is an exceptional case. No other department participate in campus drive or placement cell. Students need to apply off campus to get placed.

for placement students need to get atleast 7cgpa. The placement is decent where most students around 85% get placed . Main companies are accenture, tcs, infosys , cognizant etc. Highest package was 9lpa and average was around 4lpa . I plan to work in one of the companies i get placed in.

Placement Experience :
Students are eligible for placements from third year onwards on a condition that the student has good skills and created good projects. Companies are still coming to ITER since July, various companies like Wipro, Xerox, Paytm, Flipkart, DELL, Microsoft, TCS Infosys and various other MNCs and startups come to the campus for placements and also provide pre placement offers. Currently I have no idea about the highest and average packages as per the company and the profiles offered, but I know that the highest package offered in Iter has been 43 lakhs pa and the average package is around 6lacs-8lacs. There are certain criteria set by the college for the students to be eligible to sit in the placement, out of that more than 85% to 90% of eligible students have secured placements. Students also get internships from second year. After I get a degree and if I land a suitable job then it's okay otherwise I will look to get into civil services or defence.

It has average placements. They also provide training for that. You will be eligible from 4th year. They also provide practice schools where the eligibility is 8 cgpa. They also provide training in the 3rd and 4th year. The companies which I know are Infosys Accenture Capgemini Genpact Mindfire solutions Mindtree. Tcs. pwC Deloitte Inovaare Tata Power Cosmovolt Tech Mahindra etc. They mostly provide the packages in the range 3.5-6 lpa ..The average oncampus placement this year was 4.5 lpa and the highest was 14.5 lpa. The 30 lpa shown was off campus. So you can get jobs according to your skills and cgpa . Overally the placement is just average but roi may be better.

Actually as I am a undergraduate I don't exactly know how much is the eligibility criteria for placement but I know that the guest lecturers are given according to number of classes they do in a month My plans after getting a degree is to give jrf net /gate and to further study in reasearch lines.

Placement Experience :
Eligibility criteria for placements are based on cgpa cut off and no backlogs are allowed. A few companies that came for recruitment are Infosys, Tcs , Accenture , Cognizant , Dell , Deloitte . Profiles offered are mostly of software engineer and average package is around 600000 per annum . My plan after getting degree is to go into software engineering job .

The placement scenario is quite good as most of the students get placed before the completion of course with a decent package. Average package is around 8lpa and the highest package till now is 60+ lpa.

Placement Experience :
Yes, we do have a placement cell over here and is quite good. Many well-known companies come to recruit their employees, and the companies are quite satisfied over our senior's hard work and smartness. Many companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Delloyd, etc., come to give good placements to the students at the college. I don't know the exact numbers, but the highest package was around 45 lakhs, and the average package was around 5 lakhs per annum. The average percentage of students getting placements is roughly around 70% to 80%. Currently for me, I don't have a solid plan to what to do but you never know some miracle might happen. Just joking, I do have a plan for the near future, but I am little worried about the future that on one before me start that initiative that I have thought about it.
