Likes
- The red infrastructure looks excellent with clean campus. And after rain, the campus is flooded with the rainy-smell.
- The college crowd maintains the esthetic aura.
Dislikes
- The college canteen is small and offers limited food stuffs. Kamala Nehru has a big canteen.
- The college campus is comparatively small. For instance, kamla Nehru College is near gargi college and it has big campus. Also concerts at night don't take place in gargi college.
Remarks :
We get college allotments for the 3 subsequent rounds wherein we can either choose to freeze the allotted college or can wait for the next allotment. So students only get to add colleges to their preference list but the final allotment would be based on students' category and score. Now coming to why I added this in my preference list because gargi is the women's college and also has a peaceful environment having said that it lies in the clean area of south campus. It has good infrastructure and the professors are excellent. Along with all these, it has good college crowd as well. Negative is that it has a small canteen area with limited stuffs available. As DU is the govt. university, we had no group discussion or interview rounds. We only had to give CUET wherein had to fill OMR sheets and after getting our scores had to make our preference list. CUET has MCQ based questions from NCERT books. And students have to give exams according to the course that they'll be graduating in.
Course Curriculum Overview :
In sem 1 we had 3 core subjects along with 3 other subjects (SEC, VAC, AEC). So in total, there were 6 subjects. The core subjects were 1.) Introduction to Literary Studies 2.) European Classical Literature 3.) Indian Classical Literature We had 3-3 books each in each of the core subjects so in total 9 books. Being students of English we regularly have to take books with us as teachers teach us from the books. In AEC in sem. 1 we had "EVS". In SEC and VAC we have to choose one subject of our choice. Faculties are top notch. All the professors have a doctoral degree and have done PhD. Not a minute goes in class when the teacher speaks in hindi, this shows the determination of the teachers to create an environment where students get to learn and practice the language. In total we give 6 semester exams in 3 years. Sem1 exams required deep explanations in writing answers. I would like to mention here that it was my parents who made me choose this by analysing the pros and cons of it.
Internships Opportunities :
I haven't opted for any internships till now but I'm hoping to join one from Semester 2. All the internships that I've heard of now offer a certificate at the end of the internship which a student can add in his/her profile.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The total fees for english hons course in gargi college, DU is Rs.54155 for 3 years. So yearly students have to pay Rs.18051 . It is commonly seen that 5-6% fees is increased in Delhi University but it doesn't make much difference. The fees are paid in Indian Rupees (INR). Talking about the registration fee, it depends on the category of the students. If the student is from general category, he/she has to pay Rs. 650, whereas OBC/NCL and SC/ST/PWBD pay Rs. 600 and Rs. 550 respectively. Yes, scholarship is provided by DU not only in UG admissions but PG admissions as well. To avail the scholarship students have to apply/register themselves by filling the forms and submitting certain important documents. The forms may be collected from the offical website of delhi University (du.ac.in). Along with it, there are different quotas (such as ECA and single girl child quota)through which students get advantage in getting good colleges.
Campus Life :
Life at campus is full of zeal and learnings. The people around are amicable and we see students practicing in their different societies at different locations in the campus. We have variety of societies/clubs which after rounds of auditions select students. These societies have their own dress codes and they represent the college in inter-college pr university competitions and earn money which they further use to fund their society trips or to buy costumes for the performances. The diwali fest that we had in the month of October on 23rd titled "Zistatva" and the annual fest - "Reverie" of 3 days takes place in month of February. We have a library which has diversity in books and has various journals and magzines. Although classrooms have no ACs but everything is in good condition, be it the benches or the fans. The classrooms are clean with blackboards. We have NCC and a big ground where sports groups practice. Some of the Societies are - Enliven, Euphony and samranjani etc.
Hostel Facilities :
There is no hostel associated with gargi College. Students live in pgs nearby or come from homes by metros. Food at pgs is not up to the mark but everyone eats that. Pgs start from 10 thousand to 25 thousand depending on the number of seaters in rooms, availability of windows etc. The rating and fees mentioned below is not of hostel actually, it's of pg.

The internship opportunities are mainly available for the commerce departments and many companies also come to offer internships here. For humanities departments to internships comes mainly from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and home ministry.

The placement cell is active. Companies like Agile Capital Services, Chegg, and Wipro visit. Eligibility requires 60%+ marks. Highest CTC offered is around 8 LPA and Average package is 4.5 LPA. Around 40-50% students get placed, while science graduates prefer higher studies (M.Sc / B.Ed). My plan is pursuing higher education and managing my student e-portfolio platform.

The placement is good for students of commerce background and even many arts students get placement. But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

I chose my course because I was interested in learning a business environment and management processes. Faculties are very well experienced and professional , and teaching methods are good. Term exams are held every 6 months and difficulty level is not very high .
Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college
Placement Experience :
Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.

The placement opportunities are genuine, infact there is a dedicated placement cell in the college, companies like EY, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC too participate in our placement fairs and students have actually got good placements!
