- Vibrant Campus Life:- The campus is always buzzing with activities, thanks to numerous clubs and activities that cater to a wide range of interests. The annual fests like Cognizance and Thomso are major highlights of the year. Social Life:- It was very enriching with students from diverse backgrounds coming together to share their ideas and experiences making hostel life even better.
- Well-maintained classrooms equipped with projectors and audio-visual aids, making learning interactive and engaging.
Dislikes
- The Roorkee's nightlife is not good. To explore we have to go to Dehradun or Rishikesh.
- Sometimes the academic pressure is intense and the schedule is tight, but we manage through it.
Remarks :
In India, there is an examination held every year which is known as JEE for the students who are in class 12th and have opt their stream in class 11th as PCM. This examination provides admission to the top engineering colleges. There are two rounds for this exam one is JEE Mains and the second one is JEE Advanced. This examination provides entrance to engineering colleges. But it is also a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced. The JEE Advanced provides admission to IITs. Most of the students start preparing in standard 11th through coaching. There are very popular coachings like Fiitjee, Allen & VMC. I appeared for the examination in the year 2022. My rank was 11,000 in JEE mains and 8000 in Jee Advanced. I chose this college because of some reasons: a. It was only 3 hours away from my hometown so I can travel back on weekends if I want to. b. It is one of the top 7 Institiutes in the country. Admission process: The IITs are alloted to students through JOSSA counselling.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because of my interest in mechanical engineering, Also, IIT Roorkee does not limit students to their branch only. We can explore other interests as well. For example, I am in Mechanical Engineering but I have also explored coding, Data science as well. I am also allowed to sit in internships and placements for non-core companies. The faculty here is very experienced, they have studied from the top institutes. About Exams:- In one semester, there are mid term examinations and end term examinations. Some professors also conduct quizzes or presentations according to their preferences. We also have Tutorials for each course and they have significant weightage in determining the grades. The difficulty level of the examination varies from medium to hard.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, I appeared in the Internship tests and I was offered a role at PriceWaterHouse Coopers of Technical Consultant. I will be joining as a summer intern at the end of my 6th semester in the month of May & June. The students are also offered pre placement offers based on their performance during internship period. My stipend for the internship will be Rs 60000 per month.
Placement Experience :
Our college has an excellent placement record. The Placement Internship cell (PIC) works diligently to ensure that students have access to the best job opportunities. The placement season usually sees a mix of core engineering companies, IT giants, consulting firms, finance companies, startups. The companies usually follow these eligibililty criteria:- 1. Students should have a minimum CGPA. (Vary from company to company). 2. No backlogs. Recruiters and offers:- Software roles:- Microsoft (CTC of 51 lakhs), Google, Amazon, Meesho, Flipkart, Zomato, Adobe, Oracle. Consulting:- Boston and Consulting Group (CTC: 24 lakhs), Wells Fargo, Accenture. Finance:- American Express (CTC: 23.5 lakhs) many more startups and companies. Last year the number of offers made were 1081. Highest package goes upto INR 1 crore. Percentage of students getting placed is 85-90 percent. The remaining students oftern pursue higher studies.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The annual fee structure for UG at IITR is divided into Autumn&Spring. The fees vary based on the student's category (General/OBC/SC/ST/PD/EWS).

Campus Life :
CLUBS: 1. Technical clubs: PAG:- the coding club of IITR, SDSLABS:- For development and design, IMG:- Responsible for handling various institute websites 2. Cultural clubs:- a. Fashsoc, Choreo, Dramatics Club, Debating society, Kshitiz:- Literary Society. 3. Enterenpreneurship clubs: - Ecell, Tinkering LABS, Socbiz. 4. Social and Outreach:- NSS, Outreach. 5. Mechanical clubs:- ASME, SAE, RMS. INFRASTRUCTURE: Two multi - storey Lecture halls with modern infrastructure, The central library, ten hostels, Cricket ground, football and hockey ground, tennis courts, basketball courts, a swimming pool, and gymnasium. Cafe Coffee Day, Subway, Amul, local canteens, fruit shops, shopping complex. Fests and Events: 1. Cognizance (Technical Fest) 2. Thomso (cultural fest) 3. Sangram:- Sport fest. 4. Comet:- an event by Career Development cell. There is also a club called Himalaya Explorers Club(HEC):- It organizes various treks in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel is provided to everybody who is studying at IIT Roorkee. There is no seperate process for applying & it is compulsory for every student to stay in hostels. The Food quality varies from average to good.

Companies do come here for placements and many students get placed as well but there's always the student factor as not everyone deserves to be placed either. My seniors are getting placed at 8.7 to 40 lpa specially the mba courses are getting placed higher.

the placement support at DBS has been one of the best strongest aspects of my experience. the university regularly organized internship and live project, mock interview, aptitude training and industry interaction to prepare students for placements.
Underrated university for pursuing Management courses
Placement Experience :
To sit for placements, the students have to be in 3 semester. Few famous companies that came in for placements are HCL, Tech Mahindra, ICICI, ANZ, Infosys, Wipro, etc. The highest package this year went up to 40 LPA and average package was 8.7 LPA. Around 95% of students got placed this year. For me I want to work in corporate for a few years then I want to pursue my PHD side by side.

College have decent placement percentage which is ofcourse higher than other local colleges near by.Our college have avg package around 6LPA and every year big companies like TCS visit our college for recruitment offering good packages.

I would say the college really provides wide opportunities to the specialization courses, as I preferred to go for further studies, but my batchmates got placed in good environmental industries because of the Degree.

Placements are very good. Placement criteria is based on cgpa and student behaviour. Good cgpa and no back allowed you to sit in placement. Highest package is 1.24 cr and average package is 4lpa. About 60% students get placed per year from campus. Tech Mahindra, TCS, wipro, Deloitte HCL etc companies visited fir placement.

I choose this course mainly because I wanted to pursue marketing for quite some time as I am extremely extroverted person. The faculty here are pretty well qualified atleast the ones who have taught me they really take interest in making everyone interact and share opinions
