- campus life is full of joy. we do night out during weekends, go to ganga canal that is out of campus during evening time. Haridwar is near so we walkaway sometimes. in clubs fresher s party, placement CHAPO, event successful CHAPO, farewell party and many more parties in nearby party house. many restaurants are there near the campus. many events held in the campus where students from other universities join us. meeting new people. lectures are too chill. in first year it is hard to manage academics and extra curricular due to 7 courses and branch change pressure. but from 3rd year you will ger much free time to focus on skills. classrooms have got AC and heater and library got some very nice architecture. even LHC building is too aesthetic. there are such buildings that are 200 years old and still working. tennis courts are properly maintained, squash court, badminton court. cricket, football, hockey field are properly maintained. indoor games like snooker, pool chess, carrom.
- library got enough place to study. hostels are good and rooms you will get used to it. new hostels are in process and they have such a good rooms. every hostel has day and night canteen, sports facilities and common areas like lawn and TV room. faculty is very helpful, if you have good relations with professor you will get projects and LOR for easy. some faculty is so strict that it fail some students in courses. THOMSO, COGNIZANCE are best part of IIT , 3day events in autumn and spring semester where celebrities come. many completions you can take part. sports inter IIT happens in December where you go with your team to play in other IITs, people from all over IITs come, it s a great experience. same for inter IIT cultural. sometimes we have small trips in army camp during national days. sports comity organize marathon, colors trophy, cycling etc. open for all and you can get exiting prizes. GPL is most popular in boys hostel. during HOLI students play HOLI in main building lawn.
- campus got some very good night life compared to all other IITs
Dislikes
- infrastructure is all good but hostel rooms that sucks, in first year hostels it is hard to spent 1st week in hostel rooms, some hostels have very bad location in campus and their rooms are too small. some hostels have very bad mess. it is hard to join clubs without politics. in events that is organized by hostels they don t pay you prize money. or they pay very late. during exam time it is hard to get sit in library as it is overcrowded. sometimes your things like charger might get stolen. there are many dogs in the campus, it is a serious issue as they have been bite many students till now. during night it becomes dangerous to pass by dog group. they chase you and sometime they bite. some dogs roam inside the hostel. athletic ground is too old, there is no facility of synthetic running court. outside campus it is not safe during night times . it becomes to hard to survive in hostel rooms of top flour during summers. in mess you have to be in line for roti and it wastes time.
- you may get late for class due to mess. here some TAs are worse that they torture you for attendance like if you get late by 2 min than they mark your absent. too hot during summers. too hard to go to class through bicycle or walking. some rikshaw charge you more when it is urgent to go. In campus everywhere there are cameras. some clubs are too strict that they ask you to bunk classes for club related work during events. some departments labs are too old that it feel too dusty to sit inside and work. Roorkee city is worse. too much academic pressure on students. no gatherings or protest culture against dean, dean just do their own and banning club events but no one raise voice or protest. if you sleep early that it will be tough to you as students do HALLA during night. some courses are of no use, think you are studying thermodynamics in biotech department. changes in academic curriculum every few years. less awareness of course benefits to students. some course have no logic.
- you are paying fees for sport facilities but you can t get new balls to play in tennis court.

FACTORS: top 5 IITs i want to pursue career in biotech field i got this branch with my rank beautiful campus, excellent location. BADS OF COLLEGE: very hot during summer and monsoon for 1st year students mess is very bad if you are not in politics will face difficulty for POR of clubs some prof are bad in teaching u will not get sit in library during exams and LHC is not comfortable to study. ADMISSION PROCESS: Qualify JEE mains (for category students percentile more than 50) qualify JEE advance at least get score more than 100 out of 360 to get top 5iits and for category students goal for 50+. for JOSAA counselling wait till 5th round before final. i studies for this exam trough YOUTUBE.
Course Curriculum Overview :
career options in biotech. Very good faculty, core faculty teach very good and TAs are also helpful. u can google faculty, most of them are from oxford university, CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY. HIGLY QUALIFIED. some are from AIIMS. they have pdfs prepared for course, practical we have to perform individually in supervision of TA.WE have to maintain practical notebook . grades absolute basis, 2 tests taken of marks 20, 10 for attendance , practical marks 15, mid erm exams 25 and end term exams 40. faculty can decide weightage. test are moderate also mid term but end term cover full syllabus and is tough. for mid term exams 1.5 hours and for end term 3 hours. test are in lecture 10 min. . if you attend all lectures you can score good marks. semester include core courses and some non core courses. you departmental elective courses, management course, open elective course. for 4th year you have 2 courses and on project. field trip in 3rd year. you can drop courses before end term exams
Internships Opportunities :
From my department around 4 to 5 people get interns and i am not from them. i am trying for internships through linked in. last winter break i completed one project under my professor. various tech clubs release open projects during winter and summer breaks. my last project's task was to create protein structure to cure Alzheimer's disease. my work was to assist TA and professor. i used software for protein docking and created protein structure.
Placement Experience :
for BTECH: median salary 19.69 LPA 160 companies visited including top firms like MICROSOFT, GOOGLE,TCS,ZOMATO,SAMSUNG. high placement rate. CGPA matters a lot if you have CGPA >7.5 you are safe, during shortlist if students have same CGPA extracurricular achievements do matter. highest offer was 2.3 CR. many students opt for further studies and some go for PSUs and UPSC so 91% of students get placed. software development profile is most placed then data analyst, consulting, management first resume based shortlisting then aptitude test then interviews. placement occurs in two phases in autumn semester and spring semester. same for internships but percentage of students get intern is very low like 45%. i have 6.5CGPA and i am trying for SDE profile. i will take placement and then prepare for RBI GRADE B OFFICER exam. currently i am working on my startup idea.

Campus Life :
IIT ROORKEE got some excellent night life. u can roam anywhere inside campus night, good security but beware of dogs. there are many clubs around 50 or more includes cultural , tech clubs, good sport facility. every club has fest like e summit, NSS SUMMIT, comet. INTER IIT for all clubs and sports. INTER BHAWAN,GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP CUP. freshers parties and CHAPO(treat) from seniors ,many competition organized .by clubs. fun activities by student clubs. snooker lover should come here. COLORS trophy for sports. marathon etc. for academics you will get all books in library. u can issue books for whole semester. all clubs have their websites.
Hostel Facilities :
in IITs hostel facility is available inside the campus. during the day of academic registration rooms are given to students according to their departments. CSE students get single sharing, other circuital branches get double sharing and all other departments have triple sharing. rooms are not that much good. mess food in first year hostel is bad. every month special dinner is served. you can opt for paneer or egg of coupons 25 and 20 rupees respectively. washrooms are awesome, newly built. hostel changes after first year. if you are in politics it becomes easy to get desired choice hostel.

Companies do come here for placements and many students get placed as well but there's always the student factor as not everyone deserves to be placed either. My seniors are getting placed at 8.7 to 40 lpa specially the mba courses are getting placed higher.

To sit for placements, the students have to be in 3 semester. Few famous companies that came in for placements are HCL, Tech Mahindra, ICICI, ANZ, Infosys, Wipro, etc. The highest package this year went up to 40 LPA and average package was 8.7 LPA. Around 95% of students got placed this year. For me I want to work in corporate for a few years then I want to pursue my PHD side by side.

Placements are very good. Placement criteria is based on cgpa and student behaviour. Good cgpa and no back allowed you to sit in placement. Highest package is 1.24 cr and average package is 4lpa. About 60% students get placed per year from campus. Tech Mahindra, TCS, wipro, Deloitte HCL etc companies visited fir placement.
