- Areas of Improvement at Ramjas College 1. Stray Animal Issue: Stray dogs often entered washrooms and scattered trash from dustbins, leading to hygiene concerns. Maintaining stricter cleanliness and access control could improve the situation. 2. Garden Maintenance: Compared to other colleges, the gardens were not well-maintained, often appearing dry and neglected. With better care and landscaping, they could enhance the campus environment and aesthetics. Addressing these aspects would further elevate the overall student experience at Ramjas College.
- Placement & Internship Opportunities: The college should strengthen its placement cell and provide students with internship opportunities within their respective departments. Additionally, it should prepare them for external job markets through training and career guidance.
Remarks :
I chose Ramjas College for its strong reputation, especially its Botany Department, known as one of the best. At that time, admission was entirely merit-based, determined by Class 12th marks. If a candidate met the cutoff, they were eligible for admission. Ramjas College had a high cutoff, usually between 90% to 95%. Students scoring above this had a good chance of securing their desired course. Admission was based purely on academic merit, with no entrance exam or personal interview. Currently, admissions are conducted through entrance exams. After the exam, a merit list is released, and students securing a position get admission. The process remains merit-based, without personal interviews, and depends solely on entrance test performance and rank in the merit list.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Botany because of my strong interest in plant science, as I found it more engaging than other subjects. Additionally, I saw great future opportunities in this field. Ramjas College was my top choice due to its strong reputation, especially in Botany. The faculty was highly experienced, with 10-15 years of expertise. They provided academic guidance and personal mentorship. The college had advanced technology for learning, well-structured practicals, and smoothly conducted classes. Exams followed a semester system with a moderate difficulty level. Regular class attendance and timely coursework completion made passing easier. Even revising key topics helped secure good marks. The supportive faculty, structured curriculum, and hands-on learning made my academic journey at Ramjas College enriching.
Internships Opportunities :
The college does not directly provide internship opportunities. However, students can secure internships through their own capabilities by approaching companies based on their skills and qualifications. Key Points: Self-Applied Internships: Students must independently apply and connect with organizations. Faculty Guidance: Professors can guide students on how to gain relevant experience. Research Internships: With faculty approval, students can assist in ongoing research projects. No Direct College Support: The institution does not offer structured internship placements; students must seek opportunities externally. While the college lacks a dedicated internship program, proactive students can leverage faculty support and external applications to gain valuable experience.
Placement Experience :
Our department did not have a dedicated placement cell, but the college had one where students could apply for opportunities. However, in reality, securing internships and jobs required personal effort. Students needed to build their resumes, apply independently, and approach companies for internships or full-time positions based on their abilities. No companies directly visited the college for placements, nor were there specific placement events. However, networking with alumni and developing strong skills could open doors to good opportunities. After completing a master’s degree in the same field, various government job options also become available, but securing them depends entirely on individual capability. This lack of direct placements is an area where the college could improve, as a stronger placement system would greatly benefit students in their career development.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
My college fees was Rs 18000 per year which did not include the semester fees for exams, for which we had to pay separately, from Rs 1000 to Rs 1700.It depended on our subjects, how many subjects we had and what those subjects were Apart from this, no particular scholarship was given by the college but yes, financially weak students got some relaxation.Fellow students who were toppers at the time of admission used to get rs 6000 from the college to buy books We did not have any fee distribution according to category, the fees were same for all categories.
Campus Life :
My campus life at Ramjas College was an enriching experience. With students from different states, I got to learn about diverse cultures. The college hosted various events, including department fests and annual functions, enhancing social interactions. Engaging with people from different regions improved my communication skills. In my final year, the college introduced its first fest, Music, held in March-April. Departments also organized their own events. The library was well-stocked with all essential books, ensuring easy access to study materials. The sports department had a separate admission process with scholarships for athletes. Various sports events were organized, allowing students to participate. The college also competed in university-level tournaments, with its volleyball team being one of the best on campus.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel was allotted to very few students based on a separate merit list, as seats were limited. Each department would get only one or two hostel slots, making it difficult for most students to secure a spot. From what we heard, the hostel had good food and infrastructure. Compared to renting a PG, the hostel was more affordable. PG accommodations started at ?7,000–?8,000 per month and could go up to ?20,000–?25,000, depending on the facilities. PGs were generally more expensive than hostels, and their food quality was not as good. If you rented a PG for ?7,000–?8,000, your total monthly expense would be around ?10,000. The closer you stayed to the college, the higher the rent and the smaller the space. Most PGs were located near the college in areas like GTB Nagar, Kamla Nagar, and Mukherjee Nagar.

The placement is good for students of commerce background and even many arts students get placement. But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

I chose my course because I was interested in learning a business environment and management processes. Faculties are very well experienced and professional , and teaching methods are good. Term exams are held every 6 months and difficulty level is not very high .
Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college
Placement Experience :
Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.

du sol provides placement in news 18, aaj tak and job opportunities as according to the course of student pursuing. just visit to du sol north campus head quarter ask for the facility they will provide . bad thing is they dont provide on regular basis.

The placement cell is quite active. There are always placement and internship fairs every year and even other college students can join them. The placement recruiters are from top companies like Deloitte, KPMG, EY, etc. Although, not every one gets in these companies but then, there are other companies as well like Finshots, Voice Your Vichaar, etc. The average package is 3LPA and highest package is 8LPA.
