Likes
- Firstly the college is equipped with a library dedicated to law and a central library which is maintained by the University.
- Campus life is great with various fest and competitions all year long.
Dislikes
- The situation with Placements and internship opportunities are not very comforting.
- Faculty although greatly qualified are not all permanent with majority being temporary which poses the risk of them leaving anytime between the session.
Remarks :
Firstly our college, University Law College is a constituent college under Gauhati University and it is one of the best-performing law colleges in the Northeast India region. To get admission here one has to appear for entrance examinations which are held in the month of July-August (yes a bit later than others). Roughly 1500 applicants sit for the entrance examination out of which 60 students get admissions. 27 seats are unreserved whereas 33 seats are reserved for STs, SCs, OBCs, physically disabled, NSS, NCC, Ex-employee quota, etc., subject to government provisions. Classes start in September and class timings are 9 am to 5 pm. The teachers are very helpful and well-qualified. Although some teachers are temporarily posted and may sometimes leave in the middle of the session but are soon replaced. There is a moot court and well-stocked library essential for any law school. University Law College is almost every time the best-performing law college under Gauhati University.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Students can apply for various scholarships by the government and the college management is very helpful regarding it. Faculties are very helpful and well qualified and are alumni of NLUs and other top law schools. Since our course is a 5-year course it has 10 semesters and roughly every semester has an expenditure (tuition fees+exam fees & others) of around 17000 rupees to 23000 rupees and sometimes even lesser. The course syllabus is updated timely to keep up with the changing laws and even seminars on careers for law graduates are conducted from time to time
Internships Opportunities :
I have personally interned under a Consumer court judge where I was given a vast learning experience and was responsible for making notes and records of cases during my internship days. I applied for it myself individually and the college placement cell played no role in it except for providing the required NOC. But the same is not applicable for all as many of my batchmates got internship opportunities from the placement cell itself
Placement Experience :
There is a dedicated placement cell though very rarely and law firms come for recruitment drives but students get placed with advocates who are alumni of the college after graduation. The college supports internship opportunities but one has to keep bugging the authorities to provide the necessities for internships. Overall internship opportunities and placements are not very great but there is huge alumni support which shows the pass-outs a way ahead
Campus Life :
The college itself being inside Gauhati University gives access to huge access with lots of canteens and other eateries, playgrounds, and stadiums which are all well equipped. Various departments of the university conduct fest from time to time so students will never feel bored. Classrooms are well equipped as well with few classes having smartboards and projectors.

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My plans after my degree is to get a job in electronic domain while also focusing on my photography and editing Passion Check my work on insta sodaa.edits
My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

Placement Experience :
The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

I forever had a dream of starting a business by myself as I come from a business background I also wanted to help my father in his work , I wanted to grow my father's business by just putting technical efforts so this is the reason I chooses commerce Teachers are of very friendly nature and helpful If you attend regular college you won't face any difficulties in exams
Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

You must get more than 7 CGPA to sit in the placement. TCS, L&T, Jacobs etc and the highest package is around 21 LPA around 15% are placed every year.Iwill be doing PHd in IIT after getting my degree.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
