Likes
- The faculty is well qualified and provides a friendly environment which is welcoming for discussions. There's no language, cultural or any other boundation among students as well. People are coming from various backgrounds making the classroom experience more varied.
- The campus life of Venky is something which no one can forget for whole of their lives. Nexus, departmental fests, societal fests, and other events are the soul of the campus, these fests are the only places where students tired of their regular classes gets chances to relax and enjoy the music,food, and performances.
Dislikes
- The guards did not allow people to sit in their own campus, sometimes even in lawns students are not allowed to sit and relax. They are not allowed to have lunch in classrooms or sit in classrooms to save themselves from outside heat or cold waves.
- The non conduction of common farewell and freshers as this incurs to huge spending, which could easily be catered by having collective events and not departmental.
Remarks :
The faculty and the college itself is a major attraction as it is not a typical DU college, SVC is less political and has a decent campus. I got admitted through 12th marks, but now the system has changed and one needs to take the entrance test, CUET, to get admission.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I had a keen interest in literature and always wanted to pursue it. The faculty is well qualified and experienced. They are from prominent institutions like JNU, DU, some from abroad with experience of 20+ years. The examinations are conducted regularly and are in easy to moderate level.
Internships Opportunities :
No i have not opted for any internships but people in my class are interning at some good places like The Indian express, The Times Of India, etc. They are mostly offered roles of content writer or creative writers with some doing digital marketing,etc. as well.
Placement Experience :
There are not much job opportunities available for English people but people from other departments do get placed with decent packages. I want to pursue law after graduation and that is why I am not much concerned about placements.
Campus Life :
The campus life at Venky is a great experience. The annual cultural fest NEXUS is one of the best fest of DU and this year Mohit Chauhan, the Rockstar singer, was the artist for NEXUS. It is mostly conducted in feb-mar every year. We've a newly renovated library with lakhs of books available to the students. There are many societies and clubs run by the students and people can opt for any of them according to their wish, such as drama soc, dance soc, music soc,etc. SVC have girls as well as boys hostel. Some people also rent PGs nearby mostly in Satya Niketan which is just opposite to college.

The internship opportunities are mainly available for the commerce departments and many companies also come to offer internships here. For humanities departments to internships comes mainly from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and home ministry.

The placement cell is active. Companies like Agile Capital Services, Chegg, and Wipro visit. Eligibility requires 60%+ marks. Highest CTC offered is around 8 LPA and Average package is 4.5 LPA. Around 40-50% students get placed, while science graduates prefer higher studies (M.Sc / B.Ed). My plan is pursuing higher education and managing my student e-portfolio platform.
