Likes
- Infrastructure: We had AC labs (some of them), library (ac room was only for PhD students), fully functional labs and smart boards.
- Faculty: All the teachers were lovely and helpful. They literally taught us from zero.
Dislikes
- Hostel: The hostel was such a mess. There were no AC, no cleanliness and was over expensive.
- Classrooms: Porta classrooms were terrible specially during summer.
Remarks :
I chose a bachelor's degree in Food Science at Lady Irwin College. This course is designed for those who want to pursue a career in food science and become a Nutrition, Diet, or Food technologist. We had a lovely campus and great faculty. The bad part about this course was the limited options for higher studies. During my time admissions were solely based on merit. There were no interviews/ tests. But now they are taking students from CUET.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Faculty at my college were mostly doctorates. I would rate them a solid 9 in terms of their knowledge. But the best part was that they would spoon-feed you everything. Exams are conducted every 6 months, with minors (internal tests) between 3 months. Difficulty level is Easy to Moderate. One can easily clear most of the exams by studying the night before. Course fees are a little higher compared to other government colleges but there are a lot of scholarships available which is given to those who meet the criteria.
Internships Opportunities :
Not Applicable. Since there were no internship offers a lot of students could not get any. I was one of them. Internships were usually for those in the Master of Science course students. And maybe the other courses too but not for food technology grads.
Placement Experience :
There is no provision for placements. Since it was a bachelor's course, students were free to look for internships on their own. A lot of students did it by obtaining contacts from their connections.
Campus Life :
At Lady Irwin, there were different societies such as Vani, Dhwani, Mukhautaetc, etc. And they all used to present their annual production in the fest which was usually organized in February. Occasionally there were book fairs, shops, and activities being conducted by the students as part of their curriculum. There is an on-campus hostel facility. But the hostels were not very hygienic. A common room for 4 people and a common toilet for around 8-10 rooms. One can imagine the plight. However, at around 10 minutes distance from Mandi house, one can find economical rooms at lax Laxminagar.

The placement is good for students of commerce background and even many arts students get placement. But for science students, there are rarely any science background companies hiring as even as an intern. Many science students go for higher studies. So, Rarely science students get placement and if placed then not in company of science background.

I chose my course because I was interested in learning a business environment and management processes. Faculties are very well experienced and professional , and teaching methods are good. Term exams are held every 6 months and difficulty level is not very high .
Doing masters in political science from Daulat Ram college
Placement Experience :
Drc has a decent placement for bachelors students and cell is very active, invites companies like Amazon, Deloitte, ipac , accenture, etc and offers around 6-20 lac. But drc doesn't provide placements for master's students, though there are many external opportunities to grab in . Masters student do apply for internships in political and policy roles and even get placed in political consultancies and awarded with fellowships.

The placement opportunities are genuine, infact there is a dedicated placement cell in the college, companies like EY, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC too participate in our placement fairs and students have actually got good placements!

du sol provides placement in news 18, aaj tak and job opportunities as according to the course of student pursuing. just visit to du sol north campus head quarter ask for the facility they will provide . bad thing is they dont provide on regular basis.

The placement cell is quite active. There are always placement and internship fairs every year and even other college students can join them. The placement recruiters are from top companies like Deloitte, KPMG, EY, etc. Although, not every one gets in these companies but then, there are other companies as well like Finshots, Voice Your Vichaar, etc. The average package is 3LPA and highest package is 8LPA.
