- AAU is located around 20 k away from Silchar city which maybe a drawback for students who prefer to study in urban areas.
Remarks :
Pursuing bachelors degree in Agriculture is a very good career opportunity for students . I being a student of Assam Agricultural University can explain the details and procedure of admission . First I appeared for a competitive exam called CUET - which is a exam taken by students to get admission in top universities of India. I took CUET Exam . After 2-3 months results were announced and I appeared for Counselling process and finally took admission in ASSAM AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY - JORHAT . Talking about the college , the environment of college is extremely peaceful . The professors seniors are extremely helpful . The students who come from other parts of the country are also provided with stipend if the students maintains a good CGPA in their course . The college will be worth studying .
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course as I wanted my career to be a part of Agriculture Research and support the growth of India. The teachers and professors in AAU are extremely qualified and experienced . They have high degree like PHD and also are Researchers in Agriculture . The term exams are moderate - not too easy or too difficult . Its always easy for the students who attend classes and listens to whatever the Professor explains . The cost per year is 14,300/- for B.SC Agriculture course . There is also a Scholarship scheme for students names NTS (National Talent Scholarship) for students who come from other states to pursue this course who have a good CGPA in college .
Internships Opportunities :
Some colleges provide internship for B.SC students during summer break like shrasa.com and you can expect a decent amount of stipend . Also the college provides 6 months internship i the seventh semester and can get 15,000 as an intern .
Placement Experience :
Almost 165 students are placed every year . The highest salary is 6LPA and average is 4 LPA . Lowest is 2 LPA. Top Recruitment companies here are Amul , TATA tea etc . AAU provides good opportunities for students . Almost 80 % students are placed in both private and government sectors . The cell facilitates employment opportunities through campus interviews .
Campus Life :
AVENTINE is the fest in AAU celebrated in December every year. Every type of book and journals are present in the library . There are many types of books related to Agriculture , Horticulture , Fisheries , Health and allied Sciences etc . Students can participate in extracurricular activities . There are many clubs where students can enrol like dance . music , football etc . The student's Society / Union arranges co-curricular activities such as games , sports . NSS/NCC Programmes also organised as a part of Social/ National service. The hostel here is quite good . All the basic amenities will be provided . Food quality in mess is moderate . You can find various menus . Few of them are Assamese food , Rice bowls , cereals etc For hostels you will be allotted a bed , a wardrobe , study table and a chair . Rest of the things has to be brought by students .

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
