The reality of HPNLU
Likes
- The college is an nlu, hence this offers us a number of opportunities for becoming good lawyers and achieving decent and stable income. The law firms are open to offer PPOs if one is hardworking and competent enough. The college provides access to the NLU network which is a great opportunity to sharpen various skills such as mooting, debating, arbitration and dispute resolution etc. The infrastructure is good , noval and advanced.
- The faculty is competent as well as permanent and supportive, which makes it a good experience overall. The campus life with various committees and clubs becomes interesting and happening.
Dislikes
- The college infrastructure does not provide exposure to great sports activities and other perks such as fests, events , etc.
- Even the placements and internship opportunities are not up to the mark and campus life is below average. The overall value for money doesn't seem to be vibrant.
Remarks :
The college is a National Law University, which is among the most prestigious law institutes of the country, it is located in the hills, which makes it visibly scenic. Also the admission is done after conducting an all india examination called CLAT. The college is a part of the consortium of NLUs, that provides admission in all these 25 NLUs. The access to a government college, access to the NLU network and the induction of various other legal skill was something that I considered before choosing this college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is more or less similar to that of the other NLUs, the curriculum is not that helpful when it comes to practical knowledge, but it is more or less the same case for the others. The academics are good, the focus is heavily laid over academic development of the students. The faculty is good , approachable, competent , supportive and permanent. No scholarships are offered by the college itself and the fee ranges to almost 15 Lakhs for the entire course of 5 years. The college although does felicitate you if you achieve high ranks.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes I have opted for internship in the district court, but the college doesn't offer that many, the college run internship and placement cell is run by the students solely, hence, hence, there are no major opportunities for internship provided by the college. But most students get internships on their own also.
Placement Experience :
There is a student run placement cell in the college which does not offer that many opportunities to students, most students rely on their hard work only. But still they do land jobs. A senior recently achieved a PPO at a tier 1 law firm. Many have excelled on their own too. The main focus of the students is Judiciary and other GOV jobs. The rest go for corporate jobs or litigation in their own places or Delhi.
Campus Life :
The life at campus is not that alluring, there are almost no co-curricular activities or fests, the permission for using the campus is also not granted by the administration for the students to conduct any on their own. The social life is maintained by the seniors outside the college, by self - funding and organizing functions and events. The clubs seldom organize any cultural activity, they mostly focus on academic events, the major committees are MCC and CADR. The infrastructure is good, advanced and fully furnished. The Hostels for first year girls are good, the boys hostels are not that good, the facilities provided to the girls are well organized. The only on campus hostel is the first year girls hostel. The others are out of campus and rented.

Placements are decent. Eligibility is typically at CGPA 6.0 or higher. Recruiters include TCS, Infosys ,Oracle, Wellsfargo etc.Highest package this year reached around 3 crores per annum as it was a foreign offer.

placement are good many cse students have package in crores i think cse nad ece branch is good but other branch package is around 10 lakh if i would suggest students i suggest go for cse or ece branch because in the era of artificial intelligence nad machine learning these two branches are booming and the package are also best in these branches you can also try for gate exam after the civil mechanical or electrical you can get jib in public plus private jobs
