NIT Uttarakhand honest review for my juniors.
Likes
- Competition is not too high as number of students is less. Students get placed easily. Faculties are very helpful in placements also.
- Place where college is situated is very beautiful in the mountains.
Dislikes
- Campus is very small in just 5 acres as compared to other NIT colleges where all other NITs having atleast minimum campus of 300 acres.
- Mess food is not too good and food available outside of the college is also not worth of money we pay them.
Remarks :
I got into NIT Uttarakhand by JOSSA counselling and I was not expecting this college. I chose the mechanical engineering branch because I love to learn about machine and their working. I was always curious about how machines work, how they design so many complex shapes, how the heavy turbines of Hydroelectric power plants how the engines work etc. After qualifying for JEE Mains you can get this college through JOSSA counselling if you are having the 92+ percentile ( for general candidates for others relief is there). In CSAB counseling you can get admission to NIT Uttarakhand at 80+ percentile. Just start preparing for jee mains and advance to get into this college there is no interview for admission.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose the mechanical engineering branch because I love to learn about machines. How did they design heavy machinery how did they install such heavy machinery, how did they decide on the material for the machines have different purposes and how did the engine work many other things increased my curiosity about machines. Faculties are very helpful and experienced in their respective subjects and Almost all professors have done their PhD from any of the IITs or any reputed college. Exams are held in three phases in NIT Uttarakhand Mid term 1-20 marks, term 2-20 marks, end term examination for 40 marks and 20 marks for internal marks either faculties will take tests or give assignments or projects for 20 marks. Exams are simple not too tough if you study attentively in the class because exam paper is set by the same faculty who teaches in the class and also checked by him/her. As it is a government college the hike is negligible. At first, students get scholarships easily.
Internships Opportunities :
Some of our seniors have visited foreign countries for internships but overall internship offers are not good at this college don't expect too much from the college about i. Do a hustle of your own to get an internship try to learn new skills and continuously apply for the internship in your dream company.
Placement Experience :
Students should maintain a CGPA to be eligible for placement most of the companies set the criteria at 7.5 CGPA for being eligible for placements. Many recruiters visit the college like unacadmy, Mahendra and many others including some PSUs. The highest salary package offered in 2024 was 28 lpa and the average salary package of the college is 7.5 lpa. In the year 2024 95% of the students were placed but in 2024 placement of the college is not too good hardly 65% of students were placed. Placement in the other branches is okay but placement in the mechanical branch is good enough.
Campus Life :
Recently one tech fest has been held in the college named Prodyogeeky'24 in Feb and March. There many competitive were there in this tech fest like a drone race, robot fight, dancing competition, eSports competition of games like PUBG, coding competition and many more. Books are available at the library for the students for a semester as well as other books for reading. Students can issue books from the Library and they have to return them at the end of the semester. The reading room is not good at all in the college. The conditions of the classroom are not very good from the second year you can sit in the classroom with having air conditioner and all classrooms have projectors. Many sports are played in NIT Uttarakhand like football, cricket, table tennis, tennis, volleyball and many more. There are many tournaments there like Intra NIT, Inter NIT and others also. There are many clubs in the college like the literary club, sports club coding club. Separate Hostel available for girls and boys.

Placement Experience :
Companies do come here for placements and many students get placed as well but there's always the student factor as not everyone deserves to be placed either. My seniors are getting placed at 8.7 to 40 lpa specially the mba courses are getting placed higher.

To sit for placements, the students have to be in 3 semester. Few famous companies that came in for placements are HCL, Tech Mahindra, ICICI, ANZ, Infosys, Wipro, etc. The highest package this year went up to 40 LPA and average package was 8.7 LPA. Around 95% of students got placed this year. For me I want to work in corporate for a few years then I want to pursue my PHD side by side.

College have decent placement percentage which is ofcourse higher than other local colleges near by.Our college have avg package around 6LPA and every year big companies like TCS visit our college for recruitment offering good packages.

I am preparing for other services currently but yes the college do provide good opportunities for future, even the college has good record in placement for AME, BHM, BCA, PHARMACY courses. Majority of students apply for further studies in our course.

I would say the college really provides wide opportunities to the specialization courses, as I preferred to go for further studies, but my batchmates got placed in good environmental industries because of the Degree.

Placements are very good. Placement criteria is based on cgpa and student behaviour. Good cgpa and no back allowed you to sit in placement. Highest package is 1.24 cr and average package is 4lpa. About 60% students get placed per year from campus. Tech Mahindra, TCS, wipro, Deloitte HCL etc companies visited fir placement.

I choose this course mainly because I wanted to pursue marketing for quite some time as I am extremely extroverted person. The faculty here are pretty well qualified atleast the ones who have taught me they really take interest in making everyone interact and share opinions
