- Seniors are always ready to help you, and the culture is passed to every batch.
- We can actually work in some awesome projects and gain experience( in CSD and with professors).
- You can travel a lot, many tourist spots are near to NITK. This college is best if you want to go for lot trips in your college life.
Dislikes
- Weather, either is too hot or its raining here. Humidity is more so you easily get tanned.
- Water scarcity, in early summers less water is supplied for hostels.
Remarks :
NITK (Surathkal) is one of the top 10 engineering colleges in INDIA, 2nd best NIT, and the only college in INDIA to have its beach. Admissions for NITK are through JEE Mains and you have to be in the top percentile to get here( you should have 98.5+ percentile to get CSE if you are a general and outer state student). The only things that are bad here are coastal humidity and water scarcity, April-May is the hottest here(but yeah holidays will be given for most batches at this time). NITK is best for overall exposure, clubs are active throughout the year and seniors are the best.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose CSE here because it has the best placements after the top 7 IITs. The course curriculum is updated and revived timely, we also have well-equipped labs, a credit system is followed and grades are assigned relative to the class score. Most of the faculty are experienced in their respective field, and many professors are working on many projects we can join them too. The scholarship is provided on tuition fees based on economic status and cast. SC, ST, and PWD get full tuition fee waiver( irrespective of family financial status), a student with a family income of less than 1 lakh also gets a full tuition fee waiver, student with a family income of more than 1 lakh and less than 5 lakhs get 2/3rd tuition fee waiver.
Internships Opportunities :
Students in 3rd year can opt for an internship at the starting of the year. I am in 2nd year so I did not do any internship( improving my skills right now). Microsoft and Google get intern through their programs.
Placement Experience :
Students should clear all courses with no backlog to get eligible for placements, a few companies keep cgpa cutoff for applying. Tech giants like Microsoft and Google recruit through their intern programs and provide PPO to many students. Amazon, Uber, Jio, and Goldman Sachs also visit here. This year's official placement data are not out yet, 54lpa was the highest package in the last placement season, with an overall average of 18lpa. More than 90% of students get placed in every season, and many students opt for higher studies. I will sit for placements after my degree.
Campus Life :
2 major fests are conducted here, ENGI (tech fest) is held in October, and INCIDENT(south India's largest fest) is held in March. NITK has 2 libraries central and an e-library with AC and well-furnished. We also have an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a huge ground with 2 sports complexes with all equipment. Clubs are the best to learn here, NITK has many techs (IEEE, IE, ISE, WEC, and many more), music, art, race, robotics, NCC, NSS, and many clubs. NITK is one of the oldest colleges, and few hostels are old too, many hostel buildings are newly built (not less than any apartment in top tier city), mess food is good (actually depends on the person), there are both veg and veg + non-veg mess. 2 or 3 sharing rooms are allotted for 1st and 2nd year B-Tech students, single rooms for 3rd and 4th year B Tech, M tech and P HD students. Mess fees will be around 30000-35000 per sem.

The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.
